I change mine every week from 10-25 percent. I have modified my back chamber .... most do the sponges and bio balls are not really great. Closed all but the top for surface skimming ...added live rock in the bottom, with an eggcrate platform for filter floss and some macro algea behind it. Used...
That is almost exactly the same schedule as mine. I would think that is sufficient. Since your back is open there are a lot of options for a fuge. http://www.nano-reef.com has a good number of tanks that have different solutions. Mine is in the back chamber...and is really small but it seems to...
Re: 2008 Meeting Schedule
Little Silver 109 off the GSP (not green star polyps the road ;))
For what it is worth I am in walking distance from the LS train station.
Water changes ... maybe hang a bag of phos and si removing medium. I have a small fuge set up in my tank and it has also helped a lot. I think since your Alk is so low the more water changes you make the better.
Re: 2008 Meeting Schedule
I volunteered for July which is super for me but I am not exactly North ??? sorry if I screwed up the rotation.
I am more or less smack dab in the middle. Can I still host it or do you want to switch out? Sorry newbie mistake. Good news if anyone has a kayak the back...
Do you have a current pic? I would guess you still have some phos. in the water, but it will not hurt the fish. What is your current status with exporting nutrients ... water changes, skimmer, filter ect? When you add the bioload it is is going to add nutrients to the water. I would suggest...
Re: Here's my 120
WOW! That is a super cool coral. Great pictures even if the frogspawn wasn't playing nice. I like your idea of keeping it together, tremendous success as a reef keeper.
I have a sand sifting cucumber...it is not as cool as Sam's stars..but given the amount of room I have..they are better suited for smaller areas in some ways. It is not the cutest thing...my daughter has named it the sea turd ;)
Welcome to the group. Very nice story, funny and two happy endings. You got your share of hitchikers that is for sure. How do you have the JBJ 70w 14k Metal Halide settup now? How long has the tank been setup?
Nice job.
That is a super plumbing job. Fantastic that you kept to your plan and it worked out so well. Certainly looks efficient. If I get the chance to setup something I will certainly keep it in mind.
Vinegar to clean it. That is the only way I have ever heard of cleaning a tank.
Also, the sump just makes things EASY. I have 2 systems without and one with and let me say it DOES makes a difference. Also, the increased water volume really helps.
It helps if you can plumb it into your kitchen...
Quick note last night my little guy moved down the wall and settled in the sand. Actually in an almost perfect place against the front of the tank so you can see his foot and everything.
