    Bryopsis & hair algae success

As Paul mentioned, it was from an old article. I don't have a link atm but the process is exactly as he mentioned. It works for both phosphates and nitrates. I wasn't worried about nitrates at the time as my phosphates were climbing ridiculously high. Combined with the peroxide dosing each...

    Bryopsis & hair algae success

So, way back when, when I began this hobby, bout 18 months ago, round about tea time, I had a bryopsis and hair algae breakout. Three days of total blackout while force starving the fish and running GFO did nada. Uncovered for a day, fed fish, and repeated the Alaskan winter. Nada. Ended up...

    Build advice please - ATO

Limited in space in my new cabinet. I can fill it entirely with a 40g sump/fuge, or I can go smaller (30g) and leave space for a 10g ATO tank. If I go large I'd run tube from my RO/DI and rely on an Eshopps float to regulate. The BIG question... How reliable are these floats 24/7? What are...

    Skimmer advice please

Hey all, first question of many with the new build. I've got a 65g shallow reef with approx 60-70# of rock and a 20g sump. I'm sing a Reef Octopus 110 INT. I'm going to a 90g, upping to 90-100# rock and at least a 30g sump. Will the RO-110 do for now? I'm working on a tight budget. I...

    Mark's 90 upgrade

So, got a stand from ebay, custom All Glass, solid oak, excellent condition... And here's mini Fonzie hanging out next to the new tank and the canopy... Couldn't have ordered a better match for the room's oak trim.

    Think I scored...

With new baby coming have to relocate aquarium and decided to upgrade on a budget along the way. Couldn't justify $600+ on a new stand. Found a stand on ebay, way up in Bergen County, no details, looked nice, wanted $450. I figured it was a generic. Made an offer of $250. Was accepted. Guy...

Houston, we have a few problems

Began dosing alk .25oz in am and .25 in pm. Alk steady between 7.5 - 7.8 for past 2 weeks. Ca good. Phosphates down. I'm guessing the death of the anem had a small ripple effect. I was removing black icor from the skimmer for a week. Increased lighting and corals thriving. Thanks all for the...

    August Meeting?

Hi all, Was talking to a few members and mentioned that it might be nice to have an end of Summer gathering for anyone who wanted to attend. Doesn't have to be about the raffles or club stuff, just a hangout with burgers and beers. If anyone wants to make swaps, great. My wife and I would...

    75/90g with stand

With new baby coming, tank is going to be moved from living room to kitchen. Thinking about upgrading with move. So, looking for an oak colored stand (with canopy) for a 75 or 90. Interested in reef ready tanks as well. M

    Has anyone seen this

George, I'm concerned as I view your signature. It appears that a 0% water level and a 0ppt salinity may indicate that your tank, in fact, has no water in it. If you have concerns regarding dry, immobile livestock, this might be suspect. Perhaps this unit may have use. ;) M

    Berghia Nudibranch

I did get some reasonable sounding advice about Peppermint shrimp. Get one or two peppermint shrimp, a small rock with aptasia, a plastic 'cage' (like a berry container or such). Place rock on sandbed. Cover rock with cage. Place shrimp in Thunderdome. Eventually shrimp will eat the aptasia...

    Has anyone seen this

Wow. That looks fantastic if its accurate. Only concern I would have would be that $500-$600 a year on replacement discs. Up to $50 a month seems a bit expensive to support an unproven $500 product.

    skimmer poll

Avoid the Coralife like the plague. Had one, broke, customer service was excellent, replacement one broke. I'm using a reef octopus classic 110 (internal) for a 65g, works fantastic. Edit: just saw you solved the problem, grats :)

Going to pick up tomorrow. Will do a bit of haggling. If anyone else interested I'll check the this thread and my PMs tomorrow early morning. It is a great deal. Joe, He didn't quote me the price on the 6' sheets but I'm guessing they'll be $40-50 each. I'll grab those 2 for you and a few...
