Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Couple of updates on this tank as well.
Here is the frag rack, all of these zoos where survivors from the crash.
Here is another shot of the mystery and the angel mooning me:
We made a new purchase, we decided to pair our mandarins. We picked up a male from Trop that looked great. Will work...
Added a yasha goby and pistol shrimp pair, it took a few days but they found each other and have been doing great. The yasha on its own was a bit freaked out after getting aggression displays from the clowns and the fire shrimp who apparently have a taste for gobies.
Yasha:
You can make out...
I don't have the 29 gallon so I don't know what the stock pump is or what the favorite upgrade is. I know for the 12g the maxi jet 900 is the preferred as the 1200 gives off to much heat. The other route you could do is not upgrade the return pump but get a powerhead to provide for flow. You can...
If you can find a way to fit the heater in the back chambers, I would do it. Makes your tank look much nicer and less of a chance you will nuke anything in the display. I use filter floss as well just make sure you change it out weekly or more frequently then that as it does a good job of...
With the all in one nano systems what some people have done is put chaeto ( a macro aglae) in the center chamber with a drop in light to help it grow. Cheato will help export nutrients (nitrates and phosphates) out of the tank which is nice. I have talked to the people at my local LFS who i...
First off welcome to the site, take a look around and you will see a ton of great tanks.
Skimmers for nanos is sort of a new thing, the old skimmers were junk, and might be worth a look at. Sapphire makes skimmers that are designed to fit in the back of your tank which is nice, the other ones...
Here is a link to PAR ratings of the major T5 bulbs. PAR is the measurement of what the corals actually use from the light. The higher the number the better:

Bulb combo really comes down to personal choice and what you want your tank to look like...
I think Phyl meant if there was another fish chasing the jumpers. If a fish is constantly getting harrassed by a bigger/more aggressive fish it is more likely to jump.
We just restocked our tank after the crash with 100% aquacultured and the corals we lost were about 97% aquacultured. Events like this make the don't break the chain threads very enticing, and a good way to keep present corals in the ocean.
Take a look through this thread, I know they are talking much bigger fixtures but there are some good links in there:

This is another thread...
Thank you guys for the compliments, we have been waiting on that goby because it is also a jumper and we wanted a covered tank. He is a bit reclusive, spends a lot of time in his caves with the pistol shrimp, but when he comes out to feed he is very interesting to watch. He came from Reef to...
A couple pics of some survivor corals:
This dendro started off as one head, now has three baby heads:
This trumpet was 3 heads when I got it now about 8 heads:
I have a pair of helfrichis right now in a covered tank and when they are scared they dive into the live rock and not up which is great. I like that fact that the tank is covered because I don't have to agonize over if I am going to come back home from work or wake up to $200+ on the floor. I...
