That way the tank frame sat in the middle of the 2x4 vs the edge. Not the best pic.
This gave me a 1/2" lip all around. So I place moulding to cover this and the bottom frame to give me a cleaner look.
That's pretty much the same layout I did when I made mine. I'd def recommend building a bit higher. I went 36" high on the stand and love it. Having the tank at viewing height is great. Only problem is I need a chair to work in the tank. Small price IMO. I built 1" bigger all around and love it...
I think madreefer just had to replace his atman pump also. Check with him. I think they are a pretty available pump. Especially with the pinwheel that BM uses. Here's one place.

You could also try local but...
Thank you.
Quick update. Got the refugium stocked. Cheato courtesy of Darren(dnov). Thank you very much.
Now just need to get one of those LEDs from reef breeders that him and Kevin are running.
Also picked up a nice Hawkins colony that I split with Darren. He was nice enough to care for...
Interesting idea.
You said you at times see his claw. If you stick something in to cave and he grabs it could just do the trick. Slow but could be effective nonetheless.
With my new tank I went with eheim's. In the past I've had aqueons and deep blue heaters. I liked the deep blue more but lost it when my power strip burned up from a skimmer leak. So far I like the eheim. No controller here, hopefully that will change at Christmas.
I ran a BM nac 3.5 on my nano and loved it. Great skimmer. Check it out. Relitivly cheap, especially if you can take advantage of a BRS group buy. Ive heard good things about the SWC 120. I have a SWC 160 on my 90 I love it.
I usually just search it on the various forums. Reef central mainly. Only downfall is you gotta weed through all the BS and opinions to find some good info.
Bristle worms, mini stars, pods, dusters, stomatellas, basically all the nice stuff one would like to have in a nice working fuge. Also looking for cups of live sand from as many different places as possible. trying to get a nice diversity of life here. Let me know. What you have and how much.
