So far so good in Sayreville. Haven’t lost power. Pool is overflowing, three trees down (note in first picture :D), a little leaf and stick litter, and ponding of water in the yard.
Stay safe people!

It sure looks like it. Check for the usual suspects….phosphates for example…and continue with regular water changes. I actually lightly vacuumed (siphoned) out as much as possible when I had this little problem.
Wow! That was neat!
I think it was my ignorance that I just assumed it took them time to make their new home. That eel basically hit the sand and quickly “drilled” a new home. These little creatures always fascinated me once I saw them at David’s house. Nice video!
We just received a reverse call stating that the town has declared an emergency and as of 9:00PM only emergency vehicles are allowed on town roads. So no one is welcome in Sayreville tonight.
Phil, don’t be impressed yet. I never said I’d eat that fish bait! :D
For those on barrier islands or low-lying areas, HERE’s a link to the tide tables….you can pick your area of NJ. Again, I think the biggest problems are going to be the flooding and listening to the incessant news reports about our doom.
+1 on IceCap LED strips. I use them as first lights on, last lights off....they are more of a moonlight then supplemental. If I leave them on with my T5's, don't even know they are on....what Taz said, washed out.
No! I think it’s a money-hungry “ambulance chasing” law firm looking to rake in the cash from a class action suit. That “ad” is to put together a list of owners who they will say will benefit from this suit. If successful, they (the owners) will get scratch, while the firm will walk away with...
No client needed….short of looking for a class action by asking owners to chime in. Unfortunately the only “winner” will be this law firm. How does it go…."They descended from worms and evolved in to firms, that’s a lawyer!"
I have a five foot tank and am in need of a canopy. Would you be willing to give up just the canopy? If not, I’ll take it all and continue to see if I could fine someone to take the base. Where are you located and could you post a picture (specifically of the canopy)? I would like the height...
Geeze Paul, I was following along with your story, and had a couple chuckles about reading instructions and bacteria with big noses…..and then I got to the last line, and you lost me. How does this work? Do you approach a lady and say, “How would you like to come back to my place and I’ll let...
That is an excellent point. I’m willing to bet this is what actually happened. I can’t see that apartment wired with at least 10 gauge wiring. The wiring, as well as the outlets and switches, are most likely for 15 or 20 amp service.
I’m not sure what getting in an electrician is...
What I’m reading is that they are not so much concerned about the big blow in our area as they are about the amount of rain. One model predicts as much as 11 to 12 inches of rain…..major flooding. Now, were did I leave those plans for the Ark, and what the heck is a cubit?
Wow! I’d move. Simply put, that apartment is not wired for today’s appliances. I’d almost be afraid to see the wiring….wouldn’t be a bit surprised to find knob and tube. I think Tony (shipwrecked) said it, you cannot run the stuff you’re running on that electrical system. You’re lucky...
I’m a little confused. Are you saying your entire apartment is supplied by 3, 30 amp breakers? If that is the case, 30 amp is not the norm. They require 10 gauge wire….very thick (and expensive), as well as 30 amp switches, plugs etc.. The norm for “regular” house wiring/circuits is 15...
It’s been a while since I’ve cracked the code book, but if I remember correctly, your microwave should be on a dedicated circuit. If you put that on it’s own circuit, you should be good to go.
Brandon, have you seen my soldering gun. It’s so old, you almost have to rub two sticks together to get it hot. But it does come with two lights on the front, so you can solder in the dark. :)
I think the last thing it soldered was a vacuum tube in an extremely large Stromberg Carlson...
Since the guests are not “logged in,” they shouldn’t have posting rights, so their “time out” should be set to zero…..or am I missing something with that explanation….George, I only have a little sense.
