Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Not sure what is happening here, but I am respecting the OP’s request to lock this thread. Greg, if you wish for this thread to be un-locked, please send me a PM and I will do so.
Let’s take a little breather people!
Thanks, Forum Moderator
Matt, you’re aging yourself. Both of you are right. The older, cheaper doors (guessing up into the mid 80’s) you could just lift them out of their tracks. The newer doors, James is correct, there is a hole, typically on the bottom edge (and somethimes top too) of the door where you put in a...
It doesn’t matter what you use.
I taped off everything and painted it with that $1/can black spray paint from Home Depot. The reason the quality of the paint doesn’t matter, because within 3 – 6 months it’s covered in coralline anyway. Even with that, there is no stress put on the paint, so...
If the stand was commercially produced, I’ve got to believe they did the engineering on this to support the weight of the stand. I have a 125 gallon, six foot long tank that sits on a steel stand as well. It has six legs…a pair of legs in the middle of the tank. Assuming your stand was...
Brian, your query concerning a strainer brought up the fact that I am running a MAG 24 on this skimmer....without a strainer. Of course the MAG 24 is a bit of overkill, and when something goes wrong, it goes wrong real fast, and with a lot of volume. This is just temporary. The final...
So I’m finally convinced that my MRC Skimmer is female. At first I would have thought male, being able to single task only. However, while growing up in the 50’s and 60’s, my dad was convinced that his cars were females, and gave them appropriate names. I can now understand his logic in coming...
I use a Rubbermaid Toughneck to mix my water as well. I would guess it holds about 20 gallons. I typically make 12 – 15 gallons. The sides are so distorted from the weight of the water, I’m not even sure if I could get the top on if I wanted to. I have never tried, and besides,I have the wires...
Looking at the timing of your posts, I believe the modify button is gone. You can only modify for a short period of time....something like 5 - 10 minutes after originally posting. It is on the right inside your post frame....but again doesn't last long.
The modify button looks like this:
I only put a cover on the one powerhead that was on a timer. So I’m in the tank room today working on the tank and what do I see…Jack trying to go into a running powerhead. With the flow, he just continues to get blown back…but sort of funny to watch. Tonight I go in just to check on things and...
Each month I am amazed at the members who are generous enough to open their house up to a bunch of strangers. Eric and Robyn, thank you for your hospitality and food, food and more food. The tank looked fantastic and as Mike and I drove home, I realized I had the my camera and didn’t take any...
Rich, did they actually change the formula or did they just put out that disclaimer so that they wouldn’t be sued when your tank crashes? I just find it hard to believe that a company would purposely poison its product so that it wasn’t used in an off-labeled application. Again, I could see them...
I’m going to do the homemade Calc, Alk and Mag recipes that are outlined by Dr. Randy Holmes-Farley:

We’ve discussed this before but I can’t find were we talked about sourcing MagFlakes and Dowflake. I can’t find either one. I’ve checked my...
At first I pulled out the powerhead and clean the stalactites off of it, thinking that I would just leave it out for the mean time. I then started a search through many boxes and was lucky to find one cover and one screen. Popped the cover/screen into the semi-cleaned PH and back into the tank...
Ah, comedians, all of you. ;D
And Nickjr, I don’t understand why you need to put superglue on the screen. It’s a tapered friction fit from the inside on the cover and, for the life of me, I can’t see how that could get knocked/blown out.
Im sitting here next to the tank perusing the NJRC forums, to look up and see a recent addition, a Starry Blenny, (my wife has already named it, Jack Blenny...she does these kind of things), resting in its new home...a Koralia powerhead. The powerhead is off right now because it is on a timer...
