I would be careful with snails near return pumps. they will eventually get sucked up and kill your return pump.

They work especially in small tanks 125 gallons or less. hair algea in the fuge is better that then display. put a sea cucumber in the refugium and it will eat it all.

From what I understand sponges are not aggressive. They like low light and low flow. My sponges live in the bottom of rocks or n between rocks. they don’t like strong light. I have never seen a sponge take over a coral.

I would never remove sponges from a rock. They add a lot of bio-diversity.
