Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Bill, I'm heading up...coming from Sayreville. Send me a PM of where you are located in Woodbridge and I'll take a swing by...probably around 11:30-12:00, if that works for you.
Robin, I don't know where you are located so don't get you tights all tied up in a wade over a little frozen precipitation...but here in Gotham (right outside the Batcave) we had hot, humid, sunny weather all day.
Half-ass Solution: We use a 5 gallon water bottle that is put into the wash sink in the laundry room (where the RO unit is located). So when you forget to turn it off (almost every time), the excess goes down the drain and not on the floor.
I think the best is a shut-off, but I don't know how...
A "40 Breeder" is a particle size tank that measures 36" wide by 18" deep by 19" high. I think it actually holds 45 gallons of water but somehow got the name 40, and not 45.
We had read somewhere to tape pictures of clowns hosting an anemone to the side of the tank. We taped one of those electronic picture frames to the side of the tank that rotated different pictures of clowns and anemones. It sounds crazy, but now both our clowns are living in a RBTA.
We feed ours silversides...once a week or once every two weeks...when we think of it. It does "feed" off the lights but still needs meaty foods to grow.
Dan, I don't get it. I clicked into your photobucket folder and saw three pcitures. Here's one:
And what I did to put that picture here was:
1. click on "IMG Code"
2. hit Control C (to copy that code)
3. go back to NJ Reefers post page.
4. place my cursor where I want the picture
5. hit...
I think this beats Malulu's "Wavemaker made easy" (http://www.njreefers.org/joomla/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&topic=13714.msg127369#msg127369) because this one doesn't require any soldering. Now if only I could figure it out!
The sump was overfilled because salinity was a little off...
It certainly helps putting in established rock, but five days.....
Sit back, relax, wait some more.
The general run is going slow wins the race.
If you're in to potentially killing things (I'm not), you can pick up a cheap fish and throw in it there and pray.
This has been discussed in the past and there are mixed feels about using them. Try using the search area above to find the old posts.
If stray voltage has no were to go, there is no current flow. Once you throw a probe in there, you now have completed the circuit for current to flow...i.e. you...
No experience with MH, but do have IceCap T5 units. With T5's, IceCap overdrives the bulbs. Is this possibly the case with MH as well? If they are being overdriven, than that's the reason for the color difference.
I won't comment whether or not it works. In a nutshell, what it purportedly does is supply a food source for the bacteria to proliferate, thereby reducing you nitrogen waste products (ammonia/nitrite/nitrate).
