You think?? I actually think acans have come down alot. I have seen frags that used to be $20 and $30/head that are now $10. You can get some huge acan colonies on Aquatic Auction for alot less than they used to be. But I know what your saying it definitely has taken a while for that to happen.
Well right now Chalices are the "craze" among reefing. Unfortunately alot of them take a long time to growout and this is probably a main reason as to why you dont see the price drop as fast. If they grew faster like zoos or acros there would be more frags available thus bringing the prices...
I bought several chalice frags from him at Macna too, and they are amazing and IMO worth the price, as they were $150/frag, not $1500. He did have the "My Miami" and "Crazy watermelon" that were indeed $1500 and eye. After Macna WWC auctioned one off on EBAY that went off at $2000.
That is correct. There is also a group of 10 people on another forum that bought 3 frags of Jason Fox's chalices for close to $4000 to attempt a "growout". Its beyond insane!
Re: Diatoms?
Have you changed anything in your day to day routine or dosing something new?? There are defintiely some nutrients in there causing this stuff to form. What are your phos, nitrates, etc.
I got one from AO a month ago, it is a striking, red color and yes it is "alien-like". Mine does not swim around like that unless it is disturbed. It just secures itself to a rock and sits there. I have it in a 260 gal tank, and i target feed it every feed days. Its actually kind of boring now...
This goes out to all you philly fans and yankee haters. DAAAAAAAAAAAA YANKEEEEEES WINNNNNNNNN DAAAAAAAAAAA YANKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES WINNNNNNNN. WORLD CHAMPS BABY!!!!
Its one of the best all around foods you can use.
Yes it smells bad, it has become slightly defrosted with me and no problems.
Ricordeas dont have to be fed to survive, if u target feed them they will grow bigger and spread faster.
I have had one for about 8 months, and love it. No problems at all, its in a 260 GAL, with lots of SPS and LPS and cleaner shrimp. Does not bother anything.
Nick, I would avoid the romaine lettuce, better to use something from the ocean like nori or dried seaweed. This is a quote from bob fenner about his thoughts on romaine for tangs:
"I'd really avoid Romaine lettuce. It has very little nutritional value for marine fishes, can potentially leach...
I have had one from Aq Ob for about 6 months. I made sure he was eating at the store before purchasing him, which he was. He is thriving and loves PE mysis, and Nori or any dried seaweed. Good luck!
