I have a mixed reef so I try to keep Alk @ 8 Calcium @ 450 Mag @ 1400 This worked for me in the past and it’s a good middle ground for all corals.

They are closing Hawaii again so that’s why the yellow tangs are expensive.

Xenia is my wife’s favorite coral. I had some in my old tank. You need to put it high in the tank and on a separate rock. They will spread anyway and you will find A chunk of Xenia on a urchin or snail nature finds a way and if you keep Xenia In Your tank it will spread it’s just a matter of time.

I only know of one other person dosing lanthanum chloride “meleves reef” he has been dosing this to his tank for a long time. Check out his you tube if you don’t all ready he had nitrates around 50ppm And he brings it down with LC.

Yeah I got it from Amazon it was very cheap. I was going to do stainless steel but because of the salt water I decided to go with plastic.

Alk will go down on its own. I stopped using reef crystals because it mixed at 12dkh and I like to keep my alk at 8 . You should also confirm your salinity and ph. It might be a good idea to get a ICP test to see if anything else is out of wack

I was able to stop by the store today. The store is packed fish 20% off Fritz salt on sale I was able to pick up the elusive trident 6 months reagent I am good until June. Lol I also stocked up on the ESV Alk/cal/ magnesium

Vodka dosing is still popular. I always run carbon and GFO but in moderation lol. 2 part is tried and true. I am also a believer of water changes.
