If I were you I would rinse everything and call it a day. But then again I do QT at all.

I have also used TTM years ago to treat sick fish. It works great and simple.

I don't QT, but if I did I would use this method. Ich does not attach itself to inverts or chaeto. So maybe just a shorten TTM is more than sufficient.

What kind of salt do you use? I use IO and Fritz both are 350ppm calc. Have to dose about 40ml for 5g bucket to bring it to 430ppm every time.

Calc 485 is too high. Maybe not dosing it for a while to see it comes down. I tried to keep mine at 430 and 8.5-9 alk. I enjoy working on my tank. Feeling like I am doing something.

agree. sand sifters are a must. you can have low nutrients still dirty sand.

Get a full-size unit. Does not take up much more space. A lot quicker and save $$$ on filters.

Used one is good. I bought a 4-stage BRS one for $75. Factor in the price with the condition of the filters.

According to randy, if you go through 1dkh of alk per day and you don’t do water change for 1 year, the mag level will drop about 80ppm for the Year. So I am sure you will be fine in the winter :)

I also find it’s unnecessary to measure mag on a regular basis. According to Randy’s article the consumption of mag is negligible. So regular water change will suffice. I had my Red Sea kit the measurements always exceeded the max level of the kit. BRS recommends aqua forest it worked fine for...

After I remove the caps I threw out most of them but still have some. Let me know if you want some. Now I always mount sps on a rubble before mounting to the rock work. Make for easy removal. Some do get out of hand after a while.
