it was popular a few years back, pretty much just an area of low flow and no light. you put in live rock and let the bacteria do its thing. sponges and such were desirable to help with filtration as well. didn't really catch on for many since, to do it properly you needed another tank and space...

Hey guys, Have an extra one of these laying around, was used on my frag tank but I went all LEDs awhile back for that and this was collecting dust. The sale includes the fixture, used for less than a year and sat around for another 6 months. will include the 2 sets of standard brackets...

this is how the 75 is currently looking moved over some of the lps/shooms. would take a photo of the frag tank right now but that looks like a warzone that's on going.

I am looking forward to this. the early black boxes were no where near what the current ones are. The best one I've used was one of the very first black boxes that incorporated UV and was still a manual knob to adjust intensity but it grew corals like crazy. never found one with the same layout...

only way to know is dip and then see what falls off. nudis also walk around at night. grab a flashlight at night and see if you can spot any. I don't think it's pest, more like chemistry issues. just a suggestion too, you might wanna check if you have any magnets rusting out in your tank...

your phosphates are pretty high imo. try dropping it (slowly) to around below. 1. in the range of .03 ~ .07

what is your po4 level? i would focus on stability in the tank. seems like your seeing dips in alk which will affect sps if its consistently happening. the lighting might also be an issue if the 160 is dimmed too low however i find that green slimers are pretty hardy for sps, had one growing...
