if the fish has done it before, i'd suspect that same fish again - regardless if you can't find any noticeable marks.

Good bug or bad bug, that is the ?

The appears to be some type of isopod - can you get a closer look at the eyes? if they are big - it's a bad pest known as a cirolanid isopod. they will feast on any fish they can get a hold of. Do not put your bare hands in the tank before getting a good identification on that bug.

    DIY Goby Cave

I have used the pvc rig that jose posted from R2R. My firefish at the time loved it. My pearly jawfish ignored it. I believe i didn't set it up deep enough in the sand - hence why the firefish utilized it. Good luck!

one last thing - this tank doesn't have built in overflows - he used glass hole cutters to set that up. I'd be really leary of moving such a tank given it's compromised in that way already. That's just me...maybe others feel fine with it.

that looks like a reeflo external pump. it looks pretty beat....I loved mine. I got it used and worked solidly for almost 8 years for me. it's $50 for a replacement seal - and given the looks of that pump, you will need it. or get a brand new one. That's a lot of jury rigging pvc he has...

I like my MRC1. it is DIY'd rigged to extend the body making it more a MRC 3 or more. That stated, I dislike those white screws and if you don't tighten it correctly, it will maddeningly leak. You do require a separate pump for it unlike many skimmers today where you just buy the entire set...

    FRAGS AT THE FIREHOUSE

As i recall this place has a small side shop that serves food right? we should remind our club member to bring some cash just in case. I know the vendors should have wifi/4G and be able to take credit cards, but as with murphy's law - best to be prepared.

    star fish trouble

linkia are notoriously difficult to maintain in a reef aquarium. Unfortunately i'd look for an owner of Harlequin shrimp and donate yours to feed them. once the legs start to go like that, I've never seen one recover. general reading - Aquarium Invertebrates: Sea Stars -- Linckia spp.

Anybody have a good story about beating Cyanobacteria

or add the tunze skimmer. Whatever it is - the cyano is uptaking nutrients faster than your tank can export them out.

Anybody have a good story about beating Cyanobacteria

use chemiclean. it will kill all that cyano. then you will have copious amounts of detritus/crap - which you should siphon. trash the leds if you think they are also causing it. phosphate readings are totally not reliable since the cyano is uptaking it before it is measurable in the water...

    So it begins...

OP, mnat link is broken. paul you're link also not coming thru. But i'm sure you guys know that now. regardless - this type of publicity will only result in the following lines of argument: 1) fish should be left in the wild and not kept in glass cages. 2) fish should be kept in (insert size...
