Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
For the corals to fluoresce more, you should use the Actinic 03 (420nm) bulb.
Although that 250w HQI could be washing out the PC's. You could try a higher kelvin HQI bulb (12 - 14k) to help out the GLOW.
HTH
I may be reading this totally wrong, so forgive me if I am.
Are you going to submerge the the skimmer in water? The motor is on the outside of the skimmer, wouldn't it submerge that as well?
It's funny that you posted this when you did. Just the other day I saw something moving around in my 90g. I was a little freaked out at first and then realized it was my cleaner shrimp. It hadn't come out in so long that I totally forgot about it! ::)
All doesn't seem to be lost! I've had tanks look worse than that on a good day!
Glad to see you didn't throw in the towel. I'm sure everything will bounce back in no time!
Mark, I tried to do the same thing, I really don't think it works. I even added a another down tube onto it and sealed it...still didn't work. Well, I would get it to work for a few hours..that would be it.
Thanks, Ken and Dana!
That theatre room is AWESOME! I really didn't need to see that!
Great food, people and tanks! I had a great time.
(and the Giants are lucky the Redskins suck so bad! >:( )
I'll have pics up tomorrow.
Thanks again!
I thought about doing the same thing to an older light fixture that I had. I'm pretty sure they are going to do away with the straight pin configurations eventually. I don't see a problem with buying new end caps and switching them over. The wiring is usually pretty simple.
Not to that extent, but my arm gets a little itchy sometimes. What size tank do you have? If it's not that deep you can try those Aqua Gloves, they go past your elbows.
The 420nm Actinic is really a true actinic, not much in the visual range, but will make the coral fluoresce nicely. The 460nm is a more visual blue light. The latter is probably more what you are looking for.
You can also check out Hello Lights, they usually have a nice selection of bulbs at a...
My tank is 30" Tall and I have to be honest...I'm kind of wishing it was 24" It's a chore to do ANYTHING in there. If I drop a frag behind the rock, I can pretty much forget about it unless I want to stick half my body in the tank! I like scuba and all, but not in my tank!
Cant wait to see this...
