I had mine shoot up to 8.6 for a day but never went that high again. Windows open but nothing else out of the ordinary.

    Alkalinity concerns

Agreed with the above. Hanna while great (I still use them) I have saliferts as backups. Do get yourself a dosing unit and then just monitor it weekly it takes a lot off your plate and less to worry about.

    Alkalinity concerns

Yup np at all. I literally run the exact same tank setup so I'm familiar with the dosing. I have to dose about 17ml of alk a day to just to keep it steady at this point.

    Alkalinity concerns

You can dose that whole 30 at once but don't do any more than that for another 24 hours if you are planning to go higher than 8.5

    Alkalinity concerns

if you are using Red Sea Alk 4ML would barely touch your levels. If you want to actually bring the levels up you will need to dose at least 30ml in a day. That will bring you up roughly 1 DKH. Per the instructions 10ml for 25g will increase 1dkh so x 3 for roughly 75g of water.

    Alkalinity concerns

Do you have access to a secondary testing kit? Salifert maybe? How big is your tank? Are you dosing Alk and Cal at the same time? Do you have a lot of stony corals? LPS/SPS What dosing supplement are you using?

    WTB: Long tentacled Duncan

I had mine in a very high flow area and people would come to my house and confuse them for a torch. It may take a while yo adjust to the flow but be patient.

    Nitrates in stores saltwater. How

It would be minimal but nothing to remove it so I guess it's possible it could stay. It is possible to back siphon with a doser but the ends should not be under water to avoid that.

    Nitrates in stores saltwater. How

Do you have a solenoid valve or a line break hooked up so water doesn't siphon back into your brute can?
