According to the only website selling them, they are reef safe but you never know. I would keep an eye on him and if other healthy corals start to go, he might have to go.
Do you have another picture of the shrimp from the side, could always be a camleback shrimp that is not reef safe and could be eating your coral, or as described above it could just be cleaning it.
Agreed with others do a bit at a time, and if you have a pvc tube that reaches the bottom of you tank, pour it down that to keep the sandstorm to a minimum
We have done it two ways. One with just some pods on a widow sill in a vase. Swap some water between the tank every few days with the tigger pods and this culture can go for a while. Eventually it does crash, but you can get a long time for one bottle of pods. We also now are running the air...
