So Carlo, I know you know this is one of the favorite 'leave it in the ocean fish' fish, so no lectures here.
Have you checked out the Moorish Idol thread on RC lately? I haven't been there in a while but the latest success recipe seemed to be large well established reef tanks and only keeping...
Hey Carlo,
You are correct about the marine fish parasites. Hard to treat in a reef environment. Most other stuff can be managed through good husbandry.
I dip all corals in iodine and Flatworm Exit. I drip acclimate first, then add the iodine and FWE. I shake them in the dip container, usually...
Anytime you want to see good ole' fashioned VHO only tanks, c'mon bye!
The actinics look much better paired with UV 50/50's!
I don't want to sound like an old man but all you young guys playing with them ultrabright, shimmering Metal Halides, well...........
You're gonna burn an eye out with...
I think we all go through all the phases.
But the ones that keep bringing me back are the gardener and the artist.
It's also a tradition. My dad and I kept tanks from the tiem I was 7 until I got married and moved out at 24. Afterwards we still collaborated on projects. Dad's been gone since...
For internet access go with the III, it has the network port and a built in webserver. The JR only has the serial port option that you need to connect to a pc and the pc has to provide a webserver and all the other services.
Don't forget we have a Premium Aquatics group buy this month. We have...
Bubble algae looks cool. I'm thinking of having a bubble algae tank! ;D
Just kidding! Emerald crabs and keeping the nutrients down keeps it in check. If I can remove it manually without too much effort, I'll pick it off as well.
Nice little setup there Jeff! Maybe you can take it on the road...
I QT all fish for 4 weeks.
Cycle rock at least as long.
I dip all corals, but do not QT, but I don't focus on those weakling stick things. If I kept acros I would probably QT.
Inverts, acclimate and right into the tank.
I have had ich in the FOWLR, all good now. I let it go fallow for 3...
Gardener is a great one, and close to my own love! I add the spiritual dimension and call it a steward of creation. When I do get the time to stare at the tank, it's usually when I'm settling down for evening prayer.

Although I had to miss the meeting this weekend, I was not deprived of deep, philosophical reef related conversation!
In between church obligations and honey-do stuff, I got to spend some time on the couch at Aquatic Obsessions where I have recently earned the label 'Old School.'
It is a label...
And I'll tell you how sloppy Rod Gilbert can look at 1:00 in the morning, losing pucks in my crease!
I'll try not to get into a Rangers/ Flyer thing with ya!
WOW!
I always miss the great ones!
Tanks look great. I'm glad I missed the belly flop contest though, I'd hate to have the bypass 'zipper' open up in front of the kids!
So I gotta know, what did Mike do? Great avatar btw Mike!
Hey Pete, I'm a goalie too. Chest shots never bothered me, it's...
Nice!
It's a good bug bite! I need some like that second picture.
After my Euphyllias and the Cyanarias, they are my favorite pieces.
Tank is looking good Matt.
You can direct your return pump output or a powerhead toward the surface to keep it agitated. The film is generally dead bacteria and other organics that collect near the surface.
I was under the apparently mistaken impression that Daylight HO T5's are available in Home Depot's and such.
Guess I was wrong! :o
I'm looking for 36" 39w daylight bulbs locally.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!
