    RO/DI woes

Kevin, I totally agree with what you’ve said….high pressure for RO….low pressure for DI. I was just trying to save buying yet another pump by using the high pressure pump to send it through everything. I also agree...a lot of good stuff here. Also glad to see "The Nut" is going with a bubbler.

    RO/DI woes

One more thing……CO2 actually consumes the anionic resin (plucking out the carbonic acid ions.) So another reason to split the two resins….the cationic resin will not have to be regenerated that frequently. With all this said about regenerating, I still think your best bet is to bubble your...

    RO/DI woes

LOL…..I’ll answer all four of your “one question.” One hour is more than enough….longer wouldn’t hurt it. It actually is simple chemistry. You have two exchange resins that are mixed together. You need to separate them to “clean” them up. You do this in the first step, where one...

    RO/DI woes

HERE is the recipe for recharging the resin. Simply put, a little soak in sodium hydroxide….a little soak in hydrochloric acid….a little rinse in DI water…….and you’re ready to go. Both are readily found at Home Depot (or a pool store for the HCl) One note of caution; this author is a...

    RO/DI woes

This is curable….and you’re almost there having a pump. Kevin (kschweer) just said this…..but I’m going to slightly change what he said. Here’s what you need to do. Get something to hold water….a 55 gallon drum, Brute garbage can, etc. Put well water into this bucket…..and now bubble...

    RO/DI woes

Yes! Jersey wells are notorious for CO2 (carbon dioxide), which will chew through DI resin within gallons. The easiest and least expense way to cure this problem is to bubble your water for a day before sending it through the filter. A simple test is to check the pH of fresh drawn...

    Best Heater?

I really can’t comment on your choices because, other than my saltwater mixing Brute, I do not use titanium heaters. I use titanium in my mixing barrel because it gets tossed around. I am a glass user for my system. I use two heaters that are controlled (reefkeeper)…..two because when one...

    good cheap LED?

Just to clarify, the video is, I believe, Reefbreeder’s Photon series that comes with a programmable controller. The Photon 120W sells for 319….not bad. They also sell a value light, which I believe is the same light, but with potentiometers to control the light. That 120W sells for 179.

    Paul’s petit réservoir d'eau salée

The only things I’ve done are throw a very large Mexican turbo in to eat the hair algae and blast aptasia with boiling water. I'm not going to do anything with this tank until I've gathered all the equipment i want, and finish the new stand. However, the two MaxiMinis continue to color up...
