It’s not so much the temperature that dictates tanks mates. Since seahorses are docile eaters, I don’t know if you’d want to put anything other than the horses (or related species) in with these guys.

I would think you would want to (have to) offset the overflow anyway. Doesn’t the tank have a brace right in the middle? If so, you would have to offset the overflow. Bottom line, I don’t think it really matters which option you go with. We are not talking highly engineered water flow...
