    November meeting

I know we are a bit late on this, but anyone want to host the meeting for November? We had the previous host pull out and we were trying with tha sponsor and that also fell through last minute. Member or sponsor, does not matter where in the state.

Would you rather have a calcium reactor or........

I have had both and will stick with the CA reactor. You do need to tune the CA reactor but it is much easier IMO to do so. With that being said, I have seen gorgeous tanks being run with both.

    Horseplay's 105g Rimless

I love the ati hybrid fixture, my corals looked amazing under them. I peak my LEDs at 30% pink+ and the t5s at 60%

largest saltwater fish and coral sale anywhere in NJ this weekend at ACC

Agreed, hopped in there today (along with trop) and they had a lot of cool stuff. They had a par meter for rent which I have always heard people want, plus sea hares and we picked up some chloramine carbon. Lot of cool stuff and great deals.

Bare bottom aka BB is the best :)

Dan just watch your alk now that all the sand is gone. There are buffering properties in sand that once removed can cause your alk to swing a bit. If you keep an eye on it you will be fine, but I know some people have had issues with pulling it in the past. I am torn, I LOVE the look of sand...

    The 210 tank build

They have a review of the new one up on reef builders but I can't look at reef builders in the office so I can't post it. We got to "play" with the pump at MACNA, and yes it was the smaller pump that is not massive and pushes 5000gph. It also does that on like 24w (or something really low like...

    The 210 tank build

I will have to check that stuff out, considering the rock is sitting in a tub right now, there are not fish and corals. Thanks again for all the responses.

    Hockeynut's new 90 gal build

I woke up that morning sick and hungover (two seperate feelings). Had a cough and sore throat for a few days afterwards, did not want to taint the group. Adding to the fact that we were back from a 12 day vacation, we needed to catch up on some sleep.

    The 210 tank build

We totally agree on the rock, that is why we tried to etch it, but not destroy it. We will see how it goes. Real Reef has released some branch but not a ton, they do have the shelf and other sizes down pretty well though if we need to figure something out. We will never get rid of all the...

    The 210 tank build

Yes we were doing them sometimes more than once per week. We tried every trick in the reefer hand book and we could bring the levels down, but they would always go back up. Yes safety and ease of use were a factor as well as consulting with Ethan at Ao. I agree with my wife (said every man...

Will have to check that out, thank you.

    The 210 tank build

James, the problem with running closed loop is that the pumps can be electricity hogs and our tank was not drilled/setup for that. I think with the new advances in powerheads we will be just fine as now we can aim pumps at the back walls. Yes muriatic may be the best way to go but we went with...

Nice, glad to see the tank back on track, looks great.

    The 210 tank build

ATI hybrid fixture, and yes I agree this hobby can be maddening sometimes but I guess it if was easy we would not have reef forums to commiserate in the fun. Soem corals responded very well to the LEDs and some did not, so we figured lets go with the best of both worlds and run the hybrid...
