Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Float valves will fail. To be on the safe side, slap a water alarm above the waterline of the Brute. These things put out a shrill similar to your wife’s voice. As a matter of fact, if this alarm goes off and your wife is home, you’ll hear an echo effect of the shrill of the alarm and the...
I started to finally categorize the wildlife in my tank. I’m starting with the fish. I have two clowns….one a black and white, the other a mis-barred orange.
Now here’s the question……these are false perculas / Ocellaris Clownfish, aren’t they?
Here’s a picture:
Another thought just came into my little beanie button......when is the last time you calibrated your refractometer? Could it be that your salt concentration is off? Just a thought, but not worth two cents.
I’m not sure how you came up with 15 inches. If I look at simply trig with the known information, a height of 15 inches with 120 degree optics is spreading that light to approximately 52 inches. That is a whole bunch of light spillage. That is, a single LED bulb is emitting a cone of light...
I do not know anything about raising jawfish fry, but I’ve got to believe you’ll need some very small food source when they hatch….something like rotifers. If you don’t have a colony already going, I’m thinking you’re in trouble.
I’m technologically challenged. I barely own a cell phone…..I typically leave it at home next to the regular house phone. It certainly isn’t smart or “I” or whatever…..it’s a phone! If I do use it, I CALL someone, because it’s a PHONE.
So anyway, here’s my question: I answer a post on...
I'd almost think that that would be too much. Are you sure the LED's are running at 3 watts. So many 55 LED units with 3 watt LEDs are actually running at 2.1 to 2.2 watts (120 watt units). I would also think that that would be enough light as well. JMTC
Joe, I thought it was a typo in the PM you sent me, but General Hardness (GH), is a freshwater test. General hardness is actually measured in saltwater tanks through magnesium, calcium and alkalinity tests.
Heat up a coffee cup of RO/DI water in the microwave. Using a turkey baster, give the little SOB a shot of boiling water. Using this method, no chemicals in the tank.
HERE is Randy Holmes Farley Two Part recipe for alk, calc and mag......and HERE is recipe 1 simplified, without the chemistry crap.
There are many reef calculators out there, but HERE is Bulk Reef Supply calculator, as an example
Justin, if you bring over two 1 - gallon jugs, we'll make up...
Jon, thank you to you and your wife for opening up your house to a bunch of strangers. I really enjoyed the small group....made it feel very homey. Tank looks great and can't complain about the raffle.....everyone was a winner.
I just picked up a new computer and would like to transfer the files (pictures and documents), from the old to the new. What’s the easiest way of doing that? Can I simply attach a cable from one to the other, or do I need software or knowledge? Obviously, I don’t have the knowledge!
I...
It’s only “approved” for DVW…..(Did I get those acronym letters straight, or is it DWV….whatever, it means Drain, Vent, Waste….not sure of their official order.)
Just like Mike, I’ll be bringing a little “dish” with me too. :o However, my dish will be Walnut brownies.
I would imagine most of us will be coming via Route 1. Just watch for all the red-light cameras. There are a boat load of cameras along this stretch of the road, and they’re set...
