Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Good call on the skimmer, those curve 5's are fantastic.
I'm upping from a 25g shallow reef to a 40b and keeping my current lighting (AI 26 or a Maxspect Razor, selling the one I don't use later).
Just going to island the center, drop the few sps I have in the mid top of the island closest to...
Heya Eric!
Thanks for hosting. Its the day of my Bro's 50th (in Lyndhurst) so I may only be able to stay for a bit but looking forward to dropping by.
My kids were unable to play Chutes and Ladders tonight as they have lost all the pieces.
However...
I am willing to trade the board and slightly...
I'd ditch the heaters to be safe, as well as those lights.
Trash the chemicals. Salt may be OK, it hardens but doesn't really go bad.
The UV may just need a new bulb, they need to be replaced often.
If the pump vibrates when its turned on try taking it apart and cleaning the propeller area, if...
Follow up on this.
As I need a tank soon I did some research and found a price of $90 for an Aqueon 40b locally.
I called Petco to see if they'd price match and spoke to a girl I know there.
She told me that they're convinced there will be a $1 a gallon sale before the end of July.
I've used Aquarium Depot twice now for Amphi and Copes.
Both times when I've opened the packages there were so many they'd be jumping out onto the kitchen counter.
Added on a couple of corals last time as well, they did well.
Was in Petco 10 mins ago.
It usually happens next weekend but the manager hasn’t received any information on it. Normally she gets a few weeks notice.
So, no clue when its going down at the moment or even if its going to be any time soon.
She also told me that 40s and 55s are no longer a buck a...
From experience...
Use a Dremmel if you have one.
Regardless, cut slow and steady or the plastic just melts.
Take a paper plate.
Cut it in half.
Push the straight portion up under the rim on the inside.
Bend the circle part of the plate to catch the plastic droppings.
Cool, thanks again.
So, 40b softie tank, eshopps medium overflow, working on sump and skimmer.
BTW, got some info that Petco $1/gal sale starts on July 14.
Thanks for the advice, had looked at that and decided on GH based on reputation, but I have had a few super silent Eshopps overflows.
Knowing the GH isn't as quiet, looks like I'll go Eshopps.
Ryan,
Just broke down a couple of tanks and have an ato available. Not a name brand, has control box and 2 float switches which are configurable (I use one to turn on the pump at low level and one to turn off pumps if water level gets to high as a safety). Used it for the last year with no...
Been working butt off.

If you want to go the chemical route, Chemiclean works wonders, just DONT overdose.
HAve used it a number of times with success and no livestock (invert, fish, or coral) losses.
