    FESS UP !

I think when people talk about good tank practices they are playing the averages. For example, 90 out of 100 people who use tap water will have issues in the tank. Now 10 people are going to be just fine and their tank will be perfect, but for a new person to the hobby people err on the side of...

LED lights... Is this worth it?

Here is an interesting article basically saying that LED prices are not coming down because people are afraid to get sued by Orbitec. They were the company that put PFO out of business. http://reefbuilders.com/2010/01/30/stop-orbitec-continuing-overreaching-broad-patent/

    Hippo with ICH

We have gotten rid of ich with just extra feeding dosed with garlic and selcon. I would not do the FW dip unless things really looked bad.

    Merv's new 40 gallon build

You just can't run away from the saltwater addiction. Notice down on the bottom of the forums it calls us "users"? Check out Reefernets thread for his 45g: http://www.njreefers.org/joomla/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&topic=21354.0 I would be careful with the 250w pendant. I am not a big...

    Fiteration Question

Depending on what you plan on keeping in the tank the PRO can handle more. When the group buy goes up you can save on it so if you can wait, I would wait. Here is the link to the HOB fuge: http://www.marinedepot.com/CPR_AquaFuge_2_Hang_on_Refugium_Hang_On_Refugiums_Sumps-CPR-CR1721-FIRFEB-vi.html

    Fiteration Question

We run a HOB skimmer and fuge on two tanks right now. They are smaller than yours (30g and 20g) but I think if you got the right size it would work. They have come out with a bunch of new HOB skimmers that are rated for bigger tanks (which of course means bigger price tags) that have been...

    Tropiquarium

I though this would be the best place to put this, Trop is now having rotating sales on their fish. If you can get on their e-mail list, they are sending out their specials. I don't know how often the changes will occur, but the owner said this will continue without pause. Right now Pajama...

Our 30 Gallon Cube (pics included)

We have been having a tug of war with the jawfish for the past week with the coral pieces. We are especially fond of that sunset because it disappeared on us and then we were able to bring it back to health and it is spreading nicely. We finally dumped in a bunch of empty seashells and dead...

Plane lands on the NJ Turnpike

I was on the Parkway once and saw a plane that had landed on the road that they had moved off to the side. Was wondering how they were going to get it back to the airport.

Seahorses and Zoa's 29 Gallon Build

What are the dimensions on the tank? If you can get a T5 fixture for it, that would be my recomendation for zoas.

    Tropic Marin's new salt

mgonz is trying something similiar: http://www.njreefers.org/joomla/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&topic=20501.0 If salt was available for the PA group buy I wanted to try it out. Have not seen any local LFS that carry it, but if they do I will probably pick it up. I am using trop marin pro...

    10g rimless tank(NEED HELP!)

The good news is that you don't need a filter and a skimmer. You can get one or the other. What are your plans for the tank? What fish/corals do you want to keep in there? If you are going to have a light bioload and easy corals (softies zoas) you can probably get away with the HOB filter. If...

    Which dwarf angel?

We have a flameback in a 20g tall tank right now. He does not pick at the corals and is a very active little guy. They can also be aggressive, which might not be that bad of a thing considering the tankmates it will have. We found a small one which was perfect for the tank size, I would try and...

I will be the guinea pig

Two weeks in and I am going to keep doing this. Color has been very good, but growth has been better. Frags that I picked up very recently are encrusting their plugs at a rate I have not seen before. Granted I don't have any scientific proof that what I am dosing is the cause here, but growth...

    Need fish bad. Any suggestions?

I have had at one point or another a flame, pygmy, flameback, and coral beauty angel. Never had them eat corals. Occasionally they will pick at one, but I think they are really looking for algae. Ricwilli had to get rid of a blue hippo tang that was eating his zoas, you never really know what...

    Need fish bad. Any suggestions?

Dwarf angels swim around the tank non stop and should be able to hold up to a six line wrasse. The only other one I can think of is clowns. Maroon clowns can be quite aggressive and could probably hold their own.
