Here are the questions I have:
Were you shocked by a shorted light fixture?
Or were you shocked by a voltage leak in the tank?
Don’t answer too quickly!
The feeling of the shock was at the light fixture, but the voltage could have come from something leaking in the tank. You were just...
After mounting the lights in the monstrosity in the above picture, I ran into a little problem….I could not get into my tank. With the canopy attached to the frames holding the lights, it was very difficult to slide off this Rube Goldberg to get into the tank. The upper frame pieces were less...
Nick I would agree with you in regard to the light period……except…….Ham has a 20 gallon tank. 120 watts of LED is a bit much for a 20 gallon…and especially a 20 long, that is (I think) only 12 inches deep. Therefore, I think it best if you run the lights separately. I think if all 120 watts...
Ham, I’m in the same boat. I’ve read the stuff about increase height, covering with screen, and shortening the photo period, but nothing definitive. I guess everyone’s situation is different. I’m a dumb-a$$ and need someone to tell me what to do. Right now I’ve got my fixtures about 30...
Rich, looking good!
It looks like you are building the stand right in place. Having done the same design for my little five foot tank, you would have to. That beast is going to need a crane to get it into place…..it weighs a ton!
Keep the pictures coming.
As far as using sheetrock as a...
Phil, don’t know the fish, but I did put a pair of blue throat triggers into a tank that already had two yellow tangs and a hippo. There was never any issue with the triggers and tangs.
George, very nice and detailed summary. I’m impressed with Apollo. I’ve got the dimless version, and these things push out the light.
As far as your mounting them, that stud end you have is a metric 6 – 1.0 thread. So you could use that stud with a nut to bolt it up some how. With my...
Thanks CFM, I read that post and a couple more that gave me a scare about new LEDs bleaching out your corals when not slowly acclimated. So I quickly made this contraption to raise the lights up about 30 ½ inches above the waterline to begin the process.
Thanks Jim!
This morning I added in the IceCap LED moonlights.
Next is to straighten out the bird’s nest of wires and split them up to four timing spots on the ReefKeeper.
I’m wondering how many hours I should have these on in acclimating the corals. Anyone have an opinion or...
Rich, bring that meter down!
That is an orange cap in the middle of the tank. It has always grown down. I thought that was normal until one day, when a fellow reefer was over, he questioned me on how I got the cap to grow down. I shrugged my shoulders and gave him my best...
Here is the European pricing (and conversion to US dollars):

HERE’s were I got the pricing.
George, I just went Apollo as well. I have the older style non controllable units, and I can tell you that it’s not an all blue on and separate all white. Half the lights come on with one switch, and the other half come on with the other switch. Now one of the switches is all blue. The...
