These, model 4102, adjustable from 36 to 48" (though I wouldn't go more than 42"):

Had one on a 40b and was doing well. Added a second and was doing great, some decent growth on zoas (all I had in that tank was...

40b (back painted black)
20L
10g converted to sump
Stand for 40b (the vertical slat type, modified top to fit 40b and put 3x coats of stain into it, it looks good)
Want a 40b setup? Take the 40b, 10g sump (that fits in the modified cabinet), the modified cabinet, and I'll throw...
With spring approaching the tank is taking a back burner at the moment so I can foucus on the garden. I'll keep the stand skinning for a rainy day (along with changing the sockets, painting the bathroom, wallpapering the hall, etc...)
Saying that, finished the aquascaping and have a number of...
Thanks for the replies guys.
Figured it was probably the epoxy and glad to have it confirmed.
Bag of carbon going into sump as soon as I finish this message.
It's nice to have a 'WTF now?' moment that doesn't require towels and/or credit card.
Hey all,
I have a reef octo 1000 in sump. Its been running great since the start. Yesterday I spent some time with the tank. I had a rusty looking mold/slime over everything in the sump, oddly enough it wasn't present in the main tank. Did a major clean (it cleaned up very easily) and got it...
Stopped by Rob's earlier tonight. He was overly generous insisting I take all the frags 'so that the other nut-jobs won't show up'.
Great guy, had a blast and could have hung out longer had I not had my 4 year old in tow. Beautiful home, family, and a couple of great tanks. But I'm sure you guys...
Gyre :)
Put a 130 in a 4' tank a couple weeks back. Have 2 rock islands with alcoves. Frag with 5 Xenia heads and a Green Star Polyp placed on bed for acclimation, in second alcove, 3' away from Gyre. Gyre set at 80%. Next morning it had blown off 3 of the Xenia and ripped about half the GSP off...
Looks like a stomatella, a snail with a soft 'shell'.
Good cleaners, reef-safe, nocturnal, hunted by peppermint shrimp and 'lined' wrasses in underfed tank, easily reproduce if they survive long enough, if threatened they drop their hind end like a lizard dropping its tail.

That stuff is great. Just used 60 pounds of it in my new reef. Scavengers are good with it, nassarius are good with it, and it doesn't blow around, even with the gyre at 80%.
Would advise a good rinse though it seems quite 'dusty'. I put a few scoops in a bucket, rinsed with tap until...
With the new 90 set up, I'm going to be selling some old equipment. Would like to try to sell the following as a set, just add a pump and ready to go:
40b (black painted back)
Eshopps 300 overflow (with 1" pvc plumbed in)
10g 3 chamber sump
Modified pine stand
U bend return

Great pics and thanks for the insight. As an adult I've travelled the world for 10+ years and yet, somehow, I ended up back here in NJ. Unfortunately I've always been a metro type and have settled in cities or suburbs with few chances to see outside the bustle. My short-sightedness was my loss...
