Question on "welding" broken chocolate Fountain

Well, I’m not up on the chemistry between polyethylene and acrylonitrile (acrylic), but if I were to guess, I’d say that the Weldon would not work on the polyethylene ….if that is the plastic that we are talking about. Polyethylene is pretty “tight” plastic, and as you have pointed out...

    Cleaning sump

Leave it on. When you are wet-vaccing, the sponge keeps debris out of the motor parts. When you get done vacuuming out the sump, take the sponge filter off and rinse it off with fresh water.

Question on "welding" broken chocolate Fountain

JB Weld is a two part epoxy. I believe Joe (Jrodrig692) is looking to use Weldon, which will partially melt and fuse the acrylic back together.

Jim, always saddened to see this kind of news!

Some new additions to our family

Geeze Taz, we’re thinking along the same lines….I’m thinking the Savannah male is that big hairy beast holding that cute little kitten. I can hear in my head David Attenborough’s soft, melodious British accent proclaiming, “And here we have the wooly Savannah beast cuddling a defenseless little...

    AI question

I fully agree with Howze. The lightning effect and the turbulent water effect are solely for a “people-pleasing” showing off all the bells and whistles that come with the light. Now, if one of the bells and whistles was the ability to make a good cup of coffee, I might consider one of these...

    Deep Blue Sea T5

Considering bulbs are 20+ dollars a piece, you’re damn never getting the fixture for nothing. Buy it!

Peace and tranquility has returned to my tank. The Neon Velvet Damsel is in a witness protection program, and has been relocated to an undisclosed location. It’s amazing how the demeanor of the remaining fish has changed. I am seeing my Coral Beauty for the first time in months. All...

5th of November Guy Fawkes Night

Well Toto, I've a feeling we're not in England any more. Sid, I believe you are now somewhere over the rainbow. Anyway, Happy Fawkes’ Eve to you and the family.

    Deep Blue Sea T5

The price seems a bit Xtreme for a no-name four bulb T5 fixture. For 300 bucks, on a four foot tank, I’d get two LED fixtures for about the same price.

    CO2 Scrubber

Interesting read on the effectiveness of running a scrubber through your skimmer (assuming you have high room CO2.) Or should I say ineffectiveness? http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1691810

    CO2 Scrubber

Yes it works if you have a CO2 problem and you change out the media when it becomes saturated. Because of the frequent media changes (dependant on CO2 levels in your house), it can get rather costly. The poorman’s CO2 fix is to run a hose from the air pick-up on your skimmer to outside your...

    Will this kill me?

The nudi acquires it’s toxins by consuming a Portuguese Man o' War. If it has not munched on a Man o’ War, it would not be poisonous. Nudibranchs will never cease to amaze me in their variety of looks and appearances….very interesting little creatures.

Both fans are “blowing.” Neither fan is “sucking.” The canopy fan blows air across the top of the tank as well as across the T5 bulbs. The other fan blows directly onto the sump. The water that evaporates (about 2 ½ gallons a day), is immediately replaced by an automatic top off...

    Stand design help

Here’s the design from RC. Tanks under four foot long, the frame is made of all 2x4’s. With the tank you are describing, easily supported. The stand can be skinned by whatever you want to do. You just need to pick your dimensions. I used this design for my tank....it's great.

Welcome To NJRC! Take a minute to introduce yourself

Welcome Sam. You’ve come to the right place. The one major issue with having a saltwater tank in a school is the summer months when no one is there to care for it. If you’ve worked out that detail, you’re on your way to exposing kids to the saltwater experience. As far as adding fish, the...

    Looking for a storage container

Rubbermaid Stock tank…..they go from 50 up to 300 gallons. The totes you are looking at are not made to hold water. The sides will bow out and eventually fail. Stock tanks are made to hold water, having thicker sidewalls and rigid top bracing. You'l find them at farm supply places.

How to deal with unresponsive Gas supplier company?

If I remember correctly you are located on Staten Island. In NJ we have the Board of Public Utilities who are the overloads of all the utilities. I would have to believe that New York has something similar. I’d look into seeing if there is and complain to them. Also check to see if this...

    Ich

Isolate the fish in a hospital tank that you slowly drop the salinity (hyposalinity)…..do a search on how to do this and how long. You don’t want to do this in you DT (unless it truly is a FO), because hyposalinity will also kill all pods, crabs, snails, inverts, etc. Let the tank sit for the...
