Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Lenny, a FOWLR can get away with much “dirtier” water then a reef tank. A canister filter is not the best approach for a reef tank….it is what is commonly referred to as a nitrate factory. It traps detritus, which then starts to spew nitrates into the water as the detritus decomposes. If you...
I’m pretty much an idiot and don’t know much about anything, but I have a matched pair that’s about four years old, and the male is less than one inch. I would therefore speculate that a two inch fish has already made the “mistake” of going female. Let’s see if that riles some feathers!
Phil, HERE is the link to the specific keyboard for my model KAV60 Acer Aspire One notebook, and HERE is the YouTube video on how to replace the subject keyboard.
Well if you didn’t start this thread because of your tank’s birthday, then we need to resort to the second part of the post title. So I understand you’ve finally accepted the fact that you’re a geezer! I’m still in denial.
Has “new” gobi found a nice hiding hole? And if so...
Yes, it is what Greg (whitebird) had. It is a trematode parasite that burrows under the skin and causes a blotchy red rash. With Greg, it was so severe that I believe it put him in the hospital a few times. Part of the life cycle of this parasite is spent in snails….the same snails you find...
I’m also running a MAG 9.5 as a return and a sump setup that is very very similar to yours. I have no issues with bubbles.
I agree with some that has already been said….especially about air being drawn in due to venturi effect. Make sure your unions have the O-ring in place. If not...
I all of a sudden lost the use of a number of letter keys on my little Acer Netbook. I was going to order up another netbook, and was perusing Amazon, when I remembered fixing my kid’s Mac video screen by viewing a how-to video on YouTube (She had sat on her laptop and crack the screen into...
Darren, I agree that they are phenomenal fish. However, I’m sorry, but seeing these fish in person, your pictures do not do these fish justice. In person, they are way more beautiful then those pictures show.
And Sid, I’d like mine easy over.
David, I’d be a bit leery using this tool directly in the tank. As a new tool, it most likely is covered with cosmoline (a rust preventive grease used on tools), and also most likely is packed with pneumatic grease/oil on the moving parts. Most (if not all) pneumatic tools require pneumatic...
HERE’s Harbor Freight’s pneumatic drill. Not the greatest quality, but the price is right.
Note that you will need a compressor and hose to run this drill.
EDIT TO ADD: Just found THIS smaller and cheaper one. And a pneumatic die grinder HERE.
Darren and Kami, thank you for opening your house and allowing us to gawk at your beautify tank and house. Good food and conversation in a relaxed atmosphere. Good stuff. Thanks again
I’m going to guess it’s made of polyethylene, and if that is the case, it’s safe to use (unless it comes from China….they have a tendency to use heavy metals in their plastic fabrications.) I am a little concerned in that the HD info page states that it holds 300 some-odd pounds, while 96...
