Electrician's Please Chime in! Brownouts Galore! - Free Beer!

Wow! I’d move. Simply put, that apartment is not wired for today’s appliances. I’d almost be afraid to see the wiring….wouldn’t be a bit surprised to find knob and tube. I think Tony (shipwrecked) said it, you cannot run the stuff you’re running on that electrical system. You’re lucky...

Electrician's Please Chime in! Brownouts Galore! - Free Beer!

I’m a little confused. Are you saying your entire apartment is supplied by 3, 30 amp breakers? If that is the case, 30 amp is not the norm. They require 10 gauge wire….very thick (and expensive), as well as 30 amp switches, plugs etc.. The norm for “regular” house wiring/circuits is 15...

Electrician's Please Chime in! Brownouts Galore! - Free Beer!

It’s been a while since I’ve cracked the code book, but if I remember correctly, your microwave should be on a dedicated circuit. If you put that on it’s own circuit, you should be good to go.

Brando's Red Sea Max 130D of Fun

Brandon, have you seen my soldering gun. It’s so old, you almost have to rub two sticks together to get it hot. But it does come with two lights on the front, so you can solder in the dark. :) I think the last thing it soldered was a vacuum tube in an extremely large Stromberg Carlson...

    Guests!

Since the guests are not “logged in,” they shouldn’t have posting rights, so their “time out” should be set to zero…..or am I missing something with that explanation….George, I only have a little sense.

    Hurricane Irene

I believe the natural order of Armageddon is earthquake, hurricane, and then followed by a swarm of locusts. :o

Brando's Red Sea Max 130D of Fun

Brandon, I pretty much don’t know much about anything, but 120 watts of LEDs over a 34 gallon tank seems like a bit much, unless you plan on mounting this fixture directly to the ceiling. These fixtures do not come with variable adjustment. Maybe someone with knowledge can chime in on this...

What did you do differently between the first and second calc test? That is, what do you have to be “careful” about?

    Beer!

Well, I’m Irish! I know what all of you are now thinking, “Boy those Irishmen are the world’s greatest lovers.” Well besides being the world’s greatest lovers, I’ve heard once….maybe twice….that we are also known for drinking. I know, hard to believe. So to solve this conundrum...

    Guests!

So what’s up will all these “guests” on our site? Is that number for real? Is anyone else sort of bugged by this number? As Jerry Seinfeld would say, “Who are these people?” The old site would typically only show a few guests. Is this all these tapatalk people tapping away?

    Thank you mnat and NikkiT

Wow, this stinks. You had all those great “thank you” posts and they go and reload the forum, loosing all that good stuff. I think it’s a conspiracy. :o Anyway, thanks again for another great meeting….nice new house and FOUR tanks.

    Earthquake in NJ????

George, my deepest sympathy. I can give you the name of my therapist. :) Tony, I had a laugh at this one, but the difference between you and me is that I’d have to change my pants after that one!

    Earthquake in NJ????

Dave, that article must have been written after the first quake. In searching for the info on OUR quake, I ran across a story that the quakes continued through the night and into the morning in Colorado, with a total of eight quakes. The tectonic plates are a-movin’, that’s for sure. I’m a...

    Earthquake in NJ????

Dave, I just posted this as well. Where are you located? I'm in Sayreville and we had a good shaking for about 30 seconds. And as I posted, the largest one I've ever felt in NJ. Trying to track down the number and epicenter right now.
