    Mounting an External Pump?

Going from a submersible pump (Mag 24) to an external pump for the skimmer (MRC-2). Would like to know how the rest of the world mounts up the pump motor. Do you put it up on bushings or just bolt it down to a slab of plywood? Thanks!

    Acrylic / Glass

I don’t think it is a matter of one being “better” than the other. They both have their advantages and disadvantages. Glass: Cheaper More difficult to cut (for the DIYer) Bonds well with silicone Acrylic (plexiglass) or other plastic (such as what I used; polycarbonate): More costly...

    April Meeting Thanks & Recap

David and family, thank you very much for hosting this month’s meeting. I really enjoyed your tank. Being able to view the tank from both sides is like having two tanks. Removing scratches from a Glass tank

I wonder if those acrylate glass fixing kits they sell for automobiles would help cover the scratches. I've used them for rock dings for cars and they worked pretty good. Are your scratches on the inside or outside?

    Pickling Lime?

Here’s a link that discusses use of lime in the aquarium, including the source of Mrs. Wages’ pickling lime. Also mentions buying in bulk, but minimum quantities would suggest a group buy purchase. http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2005-01/rhf/index.php#2

    Chaeto

Agree with mike….low nitrates. The other contributing factor could be lights. T5’s on a sump…do you have corals in your sump? What bulbs are you running. Generally speaking, the lower the temperature (k value) the more usable light for algae. If you want that stuff to grow (and want to stick...

    New Club Tank?

Not to mention fitting it through the front door. The weight…..It’s in the write-up….13,200 pounds when full. I’m sure that exceeds the load capacity of a stick built house. That would need its’ own footings and foundation.
