I'll keep the fudge with the sand bed. seems like Tristans approach with the cuc could help in regulating the debris that collect down there. if worse comes to worse, wet dry vac comes out. lol I appreciate everyone's input.
I appreciate the response Tristan. very well explained. I was never the person to invest adding a full blown cuc in the fuge, might be the time to do so.
Here is another question for you guys that do keep a deep sand bed in the refugium. How do you guys maintain it without it being a nutrient factory over time?
Thanks for the advice guys and the main reason I want to remove the refugium would be the DSB. I feel like in the long run and from some reading that it can cause more trouble then it is worth when it comes to nutrient build up. I'm not opposed to keeping a section for growing macro algae and...
