The diameter of the tube (which i'm pretty sure is my standpipe) in that picture is 1 1/4 inches. i don't know what type of durso standpipe i need for that. plus i'm not sure if it's a slip or threaded? can anyone help me out?
What can i do as of now. i mean i know how to prevent the algae in the future but what do i do to get rid of all the algae that's in there already. there's a HUGE layer of it on the back of the glass and and it is covering everything. i can't pick it up because it just crumbles up and is...
Now if the the marco rock is already dead that means that there is no die off to be had. so would i be able to just put the rock straight in my tank without cycling it since there is no die off?
no no no, it was a joke. i know the importance of research. i wouldn't have been able to have and maintain my 75 gallon without the hours of research i did before even being sure if i was going to start saltwater.
Salt is expensive (for a 16 year old who has no help funding his tank). the weekly 100% water changes are what would do it for me. i don't have enough time/money to do that especially with school starting again.
well according to live aquaria their minimum tank size is 30 gallons? Anyway i don't know if i'm gonna go with the ghost eel just yet or not. i don't even have a lid yet and i know that would be a problem.
So i'm going to a small part in florida for 10 days called boca grande. it's a great place, very small, so small that people use golf carts to get around. I started thinking of the possibilities. The beaches are huge and always empty since there aren't very many people there and i'm positive...
Any ideas where i can get some fully cured live rock? i don't have the time or money to go through the curing process. any lfs sell fully cured live rock for a good price? i know absolutely fish (the lfs i go to) sells their live rock for 9 dollars per lb which is a bit pricey for me. i don't...
I have phosphate remover sitting in my sump which dealt with the brown algae. now green algae has just taken over! Any recommendations on clean up crew? no snails or hermit crabs! I don't have any live rock in my tank yet but i'm looking. do all invertebrates need the live rock i know a lot feed...
well parameters are perfect. I have no cleanup crew. It's a FO tank right now, soon to be FOWLR. I hate snails and i hate hermit crabs so i don't really want them in my tank. I'll try removing as much of the algae as possible tomorrow morning. Any reccomendations for cleanup crew? nothing to...
So my algae is normally a bit excessive. i get a lot of green algae so before i go to bed i turn over the sand and scrub the tank. by the same time the next night, it's back so i do it again. I went away for a week and my dad took care of the tank. he called me telling me how bad my algae was...
In my tank now i have a wet/dry overflow with the sump. I hate dealing with it and want to get rid of it. My dad is in the pool industry and can get me a canister filter no problem. I just want to know if that would be an appropriate replacement for the wet/dry. I know by getting rid of the...
The thread confused me a little. How was that any different from a regular wet/dry with overflow. Water is siphoned from the tank down to the sump, a pump then returns the filtered water into the tank. Don't see what's different.
For a while i've had a wet/dry overflow since i started my tank. I've gotten pretty tired of it and was wondering what i could put in place of it. Any ideas?
The reason i don't like it is because it doesn't match my room at all. I have more of a modern-ish room where everything is sort of white, dark brown and grey. (except the walls) so it sort of stands out like a sore thumb and not in the way you want an aquarium to.
