Wanted to find out what you folks think:
I need to get a new skimmer for my 90 gallon.
I have a smaller sump and am not opposed to placing it outside and plumbing it in.
I would like it to be as compact as possible, quiet, and eliminate microbubbles.
Any reccommendations?
Thanks,
Kenny
I have heard that they can harm clams if they get hungry, but I have not witnessed it. I have several rather large ones 12"+
I have tried catching them in a water bottle trap but they are so big they do not need to go all the way in to get the bait!

My skimmer is in the same chamber of my sump as my return pump. Previously, the water from the skimmer was dumped onto a sponge that I recently eliminated to cut down on nitrates.
I have tried routing the water through the bio-balls in the other chamber, but that has not seemed to work. I even...
2 in my 90 cleared things up in side of a few weeks...the problem is whether or not they are hungry. If they get a good diet from food the fish don't eat, they may get lazy...

I have had crushed coral only in my 90 for over a year since I took over the tank...
My nitrate levels are fine, but I do gravel-vac every other week. There is a noticeable difference after I do the cleaning in the brightness of the tank. Overall, its not bad.

As much as I hate to admit it:
"Saltwater Aquariums for Dummies" was full of useful information and it was set up to be an easy read.
I normally shy away from "dummy" books, but this one was OK.

He is definitely cool...
I would take more/better photos, but he is an elusive creature. He lives in the stylo and only just barely surfaces during feeding time.
He seems to be very comfortable in the stylo, which actually started in my nano, but I moved it over when it was getting too much...
Just an update....
Everyone is hanging in there.
The wrasse seems to have worked wonders!
He has not quit since we put him in the tank.
It was remarkable...As soon as the wrasse was put in, the Kole found it, and opened its gills. It was quite a sight. He as also been cleaning up the hippo and...
I have had success placing frogspawn in all areas of the tank under VHO and T5, but the thing to watch is current...Too much and the heads can be blown off.

So,
We went to see Will @ AO and we picked up some Garlic, some Selcon and a cleaner wrasse. (even though Will refers to these as "rental fish") it should do the job if we have a parasite present.
We are also going to do a water change today for good measure.
The good news is the tang looks...
Thanks for the advice...
Being that this fish has been in the tank for several years, I would like to hope that it has the strength to overcome infection. To that end, are there any vitamins I could be dosing to help her along?

OK,
It is a long story but here it goes...
A couple of weeks ago we bought a new Sargasum Trigger. It did well for the first couple of days, then started to twitch a bit. Eventually it developed popeye. We were able to remove it from our system, QT and try to give it some antibiotics. Sadly, the...
OK,
So here is a funny question:
How do fish sleep?
They do not have eye lids, they seem to be in some sort of daze. The anthea for example...If I turn on the lights in the room, I see it, with its eyes open, but it does not react to me or the light (right away).
Do they, in a sense, "shut thier...
