I think I have the same issue....I found one of these sticking out of the rock and had a hard time guessing what it was.
My wife said it looked like the hammer coral but I think its the frogspawn.
Its right in the middle of the images...hopefully everyone can find it.
So is it the hammer...
here is a colony pic or two....they are so overgrown that some of them cant fully open.
They need to be trimmed back desperately into something manageable
My end compartment where the return pumps are located are the same size on both sumps.
Other than that the only similarities are the height of the baffles.
My father was over this evening and he suggested the same thing....so am going to try it over the next day or two.
the sump dimensions are as follows.... 30long.... 36l x 12w x 16h and the 20h is 24l x 12w x 16h
The good part is my baffles are the same height on both sides so it should be easy...
Okay.....the lines run straight up without any bends. They are 3/4 flex lines that fit right on the megaflow kit from AGA and the mag pump
Tank is 22in high and its a standard store bought AGA stand so it can't travel much more than 4' in height from the pump to the top of the tank. A mag 9 is...
I have the plugs and its on a lrg piece of Fuji rock I believe....will get a pic of the colony when I get home
No oddball morphs but there may be a watermelon shroom or 2 attached to the rock as well.
They were originally 2 pieces of rock that fused themselves together if I recall correctly...
I'm out near McGuire AFB / Ft Dix area.
Thanks for the offer Chuck.
Lets see if anyone has any ideas before I rip out the pumps.... I just might have to try a higher flow pump in one side.
I always thought you could only pump it up as fast as it would come down and that a megaflow kit had a...
My options are a bit limited.....the only way to swap out the sumps is to remove the tank and take them out through the top
Thats about 150 gallons of mess to move and not really an option.
I knew I should have bit the bullet and built a 55g sump but was trying to use what I had to keep the...
I had thought that might be the case....even thought about going one pump size up on the side that seems to drain down faster/pump up slower but didnt know if that would help any or just make it worse.
Quick summary of issue and hopefully someone will have an idea that I havent tried yet.
125gal AGA reef ready with 2 sumps underneath (was trying to be creative while cost effective and it seems to have failed)
Left sump 20g high and right sump 30g long. Both have a mag 9.5 in them for return...
After answering the first few questions asked by other posters I have 2 questions to add to the list
What else is in your tank....livestock wise? Perhaps something is eating them.
Also what is your salinity set at?
Some people say Peppermints are known to be nocturnal and very difficult to...
You don't have to do that....perhaps when things calm down you might have a few mins to teach a newbie how to frag a colony.
I have a huge colony of what I believe are Nuclear waste land pallys and Long lash green eye lady pallys.
They are now as big as a softball if not bigger and have at...
Thats a really good way of doing it.....lets hope I never have to go through what you did. They say "necessity is the mother of invention" and you have proven that proverb to be very true.
The frags look good and I hope it all clears up fast and with minimal losses.
Only problem I can see...
I might be getting rid of my extra skimmer....am thinking about it and I really dont need to just leave it sit around. It should fit in your sump without a problem. I'm sure it would work better than what you are looking at. I just have no use for it with the new setup.
Here is what I have...
But if you boil or bake them you are going to kill off everything and then you end up with dead rock.
I think the goal is to keep the rock "live" but remove the algae so the rock doesnt need to to be completely nuked and start over.
They were on my list of what I supposedly have and they are the only thing even close to looking similar.
Unless the person I got them from called them the wrong thing....not uncommon with zoo's.
They can be such a pain to I'd sometimes
