Name is Mike and I have no experience with aquariums let alone reefs. I spend my days working in corporate operations and my winter weekends judging freestyle skiing events. The rest of my time is spent with my family which includes a 7yr old bass fishing enthusiast. Former interests include...
Picked up some Frogspawn, a brain and a mushroom today from Red Sand. After putting them in I immediately noticed a fine white hair almost like a silky spider web floating around. Is this anything to be concerned about? Maybe just from stress? Only other thing in the tank is a clean up crew...
Going back to the original post, when we were at OGII the other day, they had a bunch of pairs both grade a and b. We ended up picking up a single grade b.
So I got my first little zoa frags from OGII today. Of course I forgot to ask an important question..... once you have them, how do you remove the disc? Then do you glue them to the rock or just drop them on the rocks and they'll attach over time?
Thanks. Appreciate the help. I'll continue to work on my communication and learning to better explain things. There is so much to learn it's really tough, but it is fun. Thanks.
We're finally ready to add some fish and small frags to our new tank. Now I know the best places to get coral is smcoolers or red sand, but who has the widest fish selection in the area? Only places I've been to are red sand and ogII but I also know there used to be a fish place on route 10 near...
I didn't realize this was an issue. I live about an hour away and each of the 3 times I've been there he was open. He also went well out of his way to spend time with me helping me out. I guess I'll call before I head out, but I do know that I'll be a loyal customer for a long time.
Wow, great timing. I was about to post the same question.
Put my sand, water and rock in last night. It's still cloudy as heck in there. Way too cloudy to do my rock work yet, so it's just piled in there.
Is it better to keep the pump running or not running til it settles?
I'd expect you could get them from McMaster or Grainer, Travers, Enco or any industrial supply shack.
If you order from McMaster, their standard ground shipping is super fast. I live in Mendham, and have frequently ordered things at 4pm on one day and have it on my steps the next day without...
Thanks. Yes, I realize the cycle takes a while to complete. I was simply saying I'd hoped it would complete prior to Christmas, but if it hasn't then it will remain an empty tank till it has 0 amonia and 0 nitrites. Yes, it's frustrating to wait, and yes I realize it's something I need to do. I...
Hmm, never heard of that. I'll see if OGII carries it. Was hoping cycle had started as the goal was to get this established in the basement then move to the family room when santa comes ;)
I thought that was bad, no? That 40 was after only 1 day, not to mention the rock sat in a cold car boxed up for 24 hrs prior to getting into the tank (fender bender caused).
