Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
That’s great. You’re right about the logistics being tough. It’s a very different challenge to have a state-wide group like this as opposed to a regional group on the jersey shore. Ive wanted to go to the past few meetings but they’ve been over an hour away.
Didn't several members attend last month's meeting about saltwater, and if I understood the postings correctly, contribute to the presentation? Were there SW offerings at the auction? Looking on the JSAS website, I'd expect it was mostly FW and plants. Would be great to get some exposure to...
Just saw this in my hang-on fuge, thinking it’s a spaghettti worm. Makes sense because there was nothing in the fuge that would look like a stick or tube (only chaeto, snails, and pods). Anyone think it’s something else? If it is something else, is it something I should remove?
And that...
Yeah, depending on how deep your sand bed is it could have burrowed down to rest. Mine covers itself about 3/4 of his body depth so I can still find it, but it will remain motionless for hours or even a few days at a time. Then I’ll find it out and about sifting the sand again. Cool creature...
I use the clip-on Home Depot light too on my hang-on fuge. It works much better than the light that came with it. Instantly increased the growth and the chaeto looked much healthier.
A couple of months ago I tossed some snails in the fuge and since then the chaeto’s looked even better, crisp...
I set up a small area in the sand where my main rock work blocks the conch from getting to so I can keep some coral on the sand safely. You can consider that-can be a nice contrast to the open sand bed elsewhere.
Any concern having that on the sand with Dave the conch trucking around? My fighting conch bulldozes whatever I have on the sand unless I place it on a small rock.
Sorry to hear. I like the place, have had success with their stock and my kids love checking out the variety of other pets they sell there too. Many of the staff aren’t saltwater knowledgeable but I appreciate that nobody’s trying the hard sell there and they don’t pretend to know what they...
There were several types of clowns but didn’t pay too much attention; the tomato clowns were real nice. I went for a Bartlett’s anthias and got a juvenile that’s doing great. Previously bought my tailspot Benny and royal gramma there.
