To be honest the Kessil 360 not the new x model is a great light for $350 .
I also had 3 on my 6ft tank.
Don’t go crazy adding high par lights to run them at 30% in a mixed reef tank most corals are fine and happy in par around 100-150
Hello
I wouldn’t purchase the 160.
I have the new 360x and they are really nice lights. That don’t need anything else.
I have 3 in a 125g 6ft tank and it’s working.
So 3 360x on a 60” wide tank you don’t need anything else.
The 160 are old technology the new 360x are better looking and less...
I had aiptasia I got a few peppermint shrimp and a copper band no more aptasia.
I don’t think you need to tear down your tank and get rid of rocks and bio media for aiptasia.
You should never ever ever ever ever
Connect your RO to your tank.
That’s a really bad idea. You will come home to a fresh water tank.
You should have your RO/Di go to a container.
Your ato container should be separate and shouldn’t be bigger that 5 gallons that way no matter what happens if...
They use real salt water.
It’s expensive but no dead fish and you have an instant tank.
All the bacteria is in the water
No need for a cycle.
Worldwide Imports AWW84130 Live Nutri Seawater, 4.4-Gallon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003SNL91A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_5i-JCbQ3AKEDY
They have hang on the back fuge you can buy.
A lot of people also use aqua clear filters and modify it into a refugium.
But if you want to save space on a small tank
You might look into a algae scrubber.
You don’t need it now you can buy it or DIY
You need somewhere for the beneficial bacteria to live. So you can use marine pure so the bacteria can live there.
The skimmer is only to remove and clean the water
in a AIO you can add chemipure blue it will do your carbon / phosphate/resin all in one bag
I would add marine pure balls for bio filter.
then a sponge or poly filter the top or use a sock if it has that option
I have to say I really like the jebao pumps. I use to think that you needed to spend $$$ to get a good pump.
I purchased a used frag tank system tank/stand/sump the owner also gave me the jebao dc4000 return pump for free. so I said I will leave it and replace it when it dies. its still running...
If you have a mixed reef with soft corals you should always run carbon. That way it can remove toxins. Toadstool need good flow.
Like everyone has posted my toadstool looks
Amazing for like 7-10 days out of the month. The rest of the time it looks like poop.
I like shallow tanks. I have a 125 gallon and I am glad I didn’t get the 180 or the 220.
Deep tanks are hard to clean. Lighting a deep tank is also a problem and you always have dead spots. Getting the flow on a tall tank is also difficult.
For me 20” or less works best
I am also in a love hate relationship with apex.
I love the control I just hate the build quality.
I had my apex head unit and dos go bad.
Apex replaced them but it suck not to dos.
Start slow don’t buy sps.
Buy soft coral and zoas if you don’t kill them after a year then add sps. This is a new tank setup. You want to keep it simple. Learn how to maintain your tank after you have an established tank and you understand the requirements of coral. You can grow sps you just...
