I had a similar issue when my DIY ALK dripper broke and dumped plenty in ATO. Calcium was fine but ALK was just as high. I tried a few partial WC and went down a little. Eventually I just waited until it was absorbed monitoring CAIL and ALK weekly. No ill affects on critters. God luck.

WC finished, sand was dirty. Skimmer still going crazy. Can't find engineer goby but it doesn't come out often.

Black out over. Sand looks clean, started up UV. Waiting for Hippo tang & engineer Toby to come out. Only two fish i cannot find. Will see how corals looks tomorrow when lights come in.

I read some reviews for the on Msrk_C posted and most people said only ran an hour with smallest one.

I have two and they work great if you're home. I too am looking at battery backup for when I am away for an extended time frame.

Matt, think return pump is not needed in this situation and may draw more power. I would say the heater and power head and maybe get more life out of the backup.

I have read that Dinos can start from a fuge/cheato. My sump is small so no fuge. Was thinking inline UV but not sure.
