JR - i didn't want to get too drastic with the tank and do a sump. i want to keep it as simple as possible but for the skimmer minus well go with a known good skimmer and make the needed modifications to the canopy.
i'd like to display price list for myself and those looking to see price cost comparison or even to show much the hobby cost.
biocube29 - 200$ (oscar from njreefers)
included: stock tank, 150w stealth heater, hydor deflector, approximately 10# dry sand
items from Reef Encounter (hackensack)...
i know it would be fine without a skimmer but would require more accurate water changes. i know it's not a mandatory but it's nice to know all the extra organics are being removed.
thanks looking into the picos
thanks for the info, mnat. long time fan of your builds! yeah, i haven't seen one post on the oceanic skimmers made for the cubes so i didn't even put that on a list of things i would even buy.
for the remora. are you going with the nano or urchin? any big difference in performance or just the...
-first getting all required mods complete
-need to buy: skimmer/koralia#1PH/refractometer/thermometer/additional fan for heat (chillers are too damn expensive and won't be getting anything into the tank until sept-october)
-going with nature's ocean bioactiv sand 20# to the addition of the dry...
;D back in the hobby.
this time went more realistic and mapping out exactly how I want it setup and time frames on when everything should be done.
thanks to oscar for a GREAT DEAL. practically brand new never used BioCube 29
doing research on mods:
-remove chamber 1/2 blockage
-remove...
rfd4 i believe it's called diatom. red slime. i siphoned it out. make sure you get as much as possible. siphon it out again a few days later. if you see it come back siphon as good as possible again but end result after 2/3 times it was gone. i got it early on though.
how did the flame angel hold up in the 20? thought min tank requirement was 30?
i'm looking forward to a flame angel as teh primary resident for a tank so i'd like to see how it does in a smaller tank. hard to find a used big cube.
just put dumped in my water and FLOATED LIKE NO TOMORROW. crap! i'll have to take as much out as possible while still looking decent. i have no clue how i'll be doing this.
it's been curing for well over a week. i haven't even thought of when i'm going to actually start up my system again. i think all my corals are almost dead ;x might end up selling my system ;x
i've gone through all those threads and found a lot of users not coating it with no problems and having it up for YEARS. the foam should get covered in coraline like anything else in the tank. i don't see why it can't. after the foam cures it is said not too leak any chemicals into the water...
outcome. i know it's not the greatest but i like it! i didn't use the resin and sand cause I'm LAZY! and it'll be covered in coraline. i love watching things GROW.
ha definitely next paycheck i'll make an appointment. not everyone has an exact reason to be a member.
love the forums but ALL (benefits) the sponsors are FURTHER South and chances of going to those areas are VERY slim. i don't think i would participate much in the group buys. i like new things...
recently got my 75RR and removed all my previous water from my 55. i personally did not buy a ro/di due the fact i had enough water for my 55 from my 30 and was only 3$per 5gal
75 + sump 10-15gal
90gallons of ro/di / 5 = 18 * 3 = 54
average ro/di used = 100
but i am ready to atleast get mine...
i see how people figure 6 or 7 but looking at hatton and his fights, creating a different style that will last until rounds 6 or 7 then after he will resort to one-dimensional due to getting pounded and notice the actual speed difference. his want for getting p4p is good enough to get him past 6...
I haven't seen much OUT OF THE WATER questions so here is a straight curve ball!
who do you see winning and why! i hate biased opinions without reason. ;)
pac = fast with an extreme amount of heart
hatton = strength especially fighting at his weight class
pac has shown become absolutely...
hey tommy, the design of a sump is all the same really. i havent really seen anything unique.
regular sump configuration: drain > refugium > return drain to both drain and refugium > return in the center.
i think i'll end up going with sump configuration #2 with my new tank. i'll take a...
