What s wrong with Polite sand? Had yellow head jaw fish who would scoop sand swim in front of Gyre and spit out. Looked like a fan snow globe.

Went to remove bulk heads but wrench was to small. Ran to Harbor Freight and picked up a bigger size wrench. Bulk heads are off and water added just enough to cover that anomaly. so far no immediate leaks

In all honesty would keep it a simple triangle, no curve. This way I have a spot to feed the fish with out removing.

Yes they are safe and are good at cleaning the sand bed. Usually like most stars they starve to death. I got both for $20.
