Have you considered using Kent's phosphate sponge? It will remove the PO4 but needs to be changed within 48 hours or it will release it bank into the tank. Good luck

How about lining it with the thin cement board used to lay tile and connect an exhaust fan to one of the plugs so when the generator is on so is the exhaust fan? Some cross ventilation may be the key

I've noticed that some reefers prefer internal protein skimmers to external. My question is what's your preference and why? And are the advantages to using an internal to external? Thanks
