Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
i would scrape them all. There is no way the snails will be able to successfully reproduce. the only ones I've ever seen do that are those limpets - and they just magically appear whenever they feel like....like a bad case of indigestion. HA!
yeah you spoil them rotten with live worms!!! (aka steak)
It would be like eating steak from the butcher and then the next time your mom gives you a frozen hungry man tv dinner (mysis). You ain't gonna eat as much either! ha ha ha!
first pic are nerite snail eggs.
second pic is a limpet snail
the rest of the pics are spirobid worms. totally harmless - but if you get enough, might look like your tank is snowing all the time. Ha ha ha.
Your first paragraph made me consider just how many people get into this hobby and then leave. At least many fish can be saved into relatively good homes if they know of club members or friends who can take them. I hate to think about how many dogs/cats/guinea pigs/etc etc that are given up...
THIS ^^ i agree 100%.
Good luck reef docg! I used to remove mine from the tank to target feed each polyp. I was pretty fanatical at first. Very easy to frag pieces too for friends.
AFTER! also total highjack - i took that def. driving course online - interestingly they insert random facts in there to make sure you are actually reading it LOL.
I dunno - it's a 40 gallon tank. How far do you want to go just for one fish in the tank? Also it is hard to feed them because you have OTHER fish in the tank that will consume the food before they get to it.
If you build this food thing Paul B made - then maybe it will work:
They all love...
tech M won't do anything for cyano. it's only effectiveness is for bryopsis. The reason why people are hesitant with chemical use is that it only treats the symptoms, but doesn't address the cause. You say you have two powerheads - and "pretty good flow" - but the reality is if you have...
2nd what horseplay stated - i had a little bit of cyano as i slacked off on maintenance and then on my powerhead seized up - reducing the intank flow. even worse my return pump finally called it quits after 8 years. It would actually still run except the gasket seal had failed and water was...
i had bryopsis once long long ago. It was an awful experience. Maybe the only worse experience would be ich - and knock on wood I have not had that introduced to my main tank yet. I honestly don't remember what my trates/phos was like - i just remember steadily increasing dosage of tech M and...
really neat - i think they are beautiful. was afraid as thought they only ate SPS - but if you weaned it on mysis - that's awesome. What other fish do you have? Mine are so bossy (lol) they'd eat an entire cube of mysis before a filefish even knew what happened...
The compartments in the back - you could do a DIY chaeto for one, or purchase an in-tank bc media basket - which could hold purigen or chemipure or other filtration. You could even add floss for mechanical filtration (but you'd need to periodically clean this out).
There are many great ideas...
