You made me check it again...: here tanksnstuff - make it easy for you: http://www.melevsreef.com/mandarin_care.html "These fish don't get Ich as they secrete an oily substance on their bodies. Their skin type and the oils secreted...

    Great i've got cyano...

improved water flow should discourage cyano from growing. I used to have tons of that stuff in a HOB fuge. I hated that fuge. Of course I sold it and the person who's using it now has it crystal clean. So duh- it was probably me overfeeding. Anyways - check how much you feed, perhaps skim wet...

for clarity - the clownfish fry tanks cannot run a sponge filter because the fry are too dumb and will lodge themselves right into the filter itself - killing themselves. If I had the time I could plumb a separate tank with the filter but i don't. Then also if you attach a air-line to the sponge...

D'oh -. I forgot the decimal point. LOL. I do not exceed 0.2 ppm on the tanks. Sorry. It's easier if I just said the color on the badge - I don't go anywhere above "green" on the ammonia badges. Yellow/green ok - blue = death. Again - the QT is fine in my opinion for a small fish like an...

    Remove Bubble algae ?

ugh - that sounds bad. For once I would consider an army of emerald crabs. I hate crabs but if I had 200# of rock with bubble algae...i dunno what i'd do. Honestly manual removal would be ideal since crabs have a mind of their own.

ok - I will retract my statement and say that fish can tolerate up to about 2ppm of Ammonia. That is my definition of "fair amount". Higher than that my fry start dying left and right. I get that info based on experience raising clownfish fry. You are missing the point entirely which is that...

Oh lighten up for once rbu1. From what I understand ryanpal made a request for feedback. Instead - this vendor jumps all over him and now follows him to this thread. Why? 6 posts and all he can do is badger ryanpal? Sheesh - just because i'm a mod I can't speak up to defend others?

it's not a brick and mortar place. By all means stop by - it's a garage based on what joe said. Again I'm all in favor of SEEING my purchases before paying.

Disagree. I run two clownfish fry tanks with no lr, no sponge. Daily water changes are fine. Granted if I skip a day I increase the water change amount. But I've got rotifers, baby brine shrimp, fry - all pooping, dying, etc. The mass is far greater then a single slow moving angler. A fish can...

    Remove Bubble algae ?

don't use the net - that will only catch the unpopped ones. You're better off using a siphon to siphon up the ones you pop and scrap off. It's beatable - you just have to keep at it. I got some from a former vendor on here and everytime I did a water change I would remove the LR and scrape the...

Oh and I also agree with qwik and jrwohler. With so many excellent LFS resources in NJ - I am (especially reading threads like this) disinclined to using online places for livestock.

    Aqua Tongs

the thing isn't designed well for saltwater. It starts to cramp up and mine broke in less than 6 months use. The stupid thing leaked water all over the place if you are not careful with that spout on the handle. Wasted money but what are our alternatives right?

75 Gallons of Entertainment! The build begins...

you would take the hose and attach it to the waste collector. The thing is designed to be placed outside the sump but you could put it in your sump and there would be no risk of the waste going back into the display. The acrylic container is interesting but i'm concerned that if you open the...

if you have the cash - maybe you could find one of these: http://www.myreefcreations.com/Waste-Collectors I use an MRC2 Collector. Basically if the skimmer goes crazy by accident and fills the thing up - the air is cut-off and the skimmer stops skimming. This prevents any kind of flood.
