    Another powerhead question

If you go with the seios, just be sure to DIY or pick up some magnets to secure them. The mounting feet lose suction pretty quickly. You could glue them to a magfloat or something.

not saying that you'll have problems - but one of the things I love about tunze is their service. If you have any problems - talk to rodney or roger and they will take care of you. I can pm you how to contact them if you ever need it!

    Another powerhead question

I am not a big fan of the SEIO - though there is at least one reefer on here who likes them - I forget who it is...maybe he can speak up. Why not a Tunze 6060? It's a bit bulky but at 11W it pushes 1600 gph. You could have the tunze and the K2 on one side, and the K3 and the return on the other.

Instead of a vortech I spent my money...

Not me - but my kids go to the yard and while they don't go that far back - it's a little disturbing! The ivy is coming in from the other side of our back fence - each leaf is bigger than the palm of my hand. :o In essence this is the mother colony that is spreading spores all over. Think...

also in my experience, maxis add heat to a tank - the smaller the tank, the more noticeable the degree change. Of course it's a moot point if you're cranking the AC.

    SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW LFS

. * Cleanliness- I'm not looking for Monk/o.c.d. clean, but the fish room should not feel humid. It should not smell. The floor should be relatively dry. *Minor quip- It would be nice if the store accepted all major credit cards.

Instead of a vortech I spent my money...

...on the exterminator who helped me rid our house of a few carpenter ants. Stupid carpenters...they somehow found a hole underneath our siding and were running up/down the plumbing pipes. :o At first he thought there might have been a colony in our laundry room (this is where I eventually hope...

    Lighting question

I say go for it. You'll lose the shimmer but gain on the heat exchange and the longer life on the T5s. As mentioned, because you're looking at a 36" rather than a 48" fixture - you're going to lose some light on the ends of the tank(3" each side). Were you using T5s before with the 55? (before...

An alternative would be a pair of tunze 6025s... "At a diameter of only 2.75" it enables a water flow of 660gph at an energy consumption of only 7W"

    Hello everyone

photos are always welcome.... ;D thanks for serving! oh and word of caution on the xenia - it can grow into plaguelike proportions - so if you want to be able to remove/extract it later, it's not a bad idea to place some small LR next to it.

saw puffer fish in bay at seaside

I read somewhere...I forget...New England had some kind of scuba club and they went out towards the end of summer (right before the jet stream shifts and cold water comes back) - they caught a ton of ornamental fish (juvenile butterflies, angels etc.) to be placed in tanks because they would...

    HELP! Problem w/Saltwater Mixing barrel

I guess you could try a different brand of salt and seeing if indeed that particular brand is a culprit - or it's just all salt. Hard to pinpoint since even the same brand will have different "Batches".

    HELP! Problem w/Saltwater Mixing barrel

it looks like sediment that separated/precipitated from the water when left uncirculated for a period of time. It's just weird because you said you had a mag 18 running. My initial reaction is "diatoms".

Ebay buyer issues, what would you do?

I would accept a money order deposit as long as it is a US postal one. Just check this site to verify authenticity: http://www.usps.com/missingmoneyorders/security.htm Also - I would not accept say a $500US money order, asking for the difference back in cash. If you're really pinched for time...

    Aiptasia Moving around ????

Isn't that similar to joe's juice and aiptasia-x, in essence filling a syringe with the contents and squirting it in the anemone? I dunno - I have no experience as I was lucky none hitched into my tank...or maybe those peppermints I perceived to be useless actually did something...lol.
