Junior, I'm not understanding the title of the post, but WELCOME! Start a Tale of the Tank where we can see what you have and you can ask all the questions you would like answers (opinions) on.
With the addition of this third fixture to my canopy, I now have an issue with all the cords. Each fixture has two cords, one for blues and one for whites, while one fixture has a third wire for moon lights. In addition I have two old IceCap moonlight fixtures with two more cords/wall warts...
One of the best buys I ever made was a Reef Gadget.....designed and built by a former NJRC member from South Jersey. Simple, elegant, inexpensive and very effective.....glued onto your MAG float. Unfortunately they are no longer available. However, I think similar devices are, so check...
The old rack was simply inexpensive fir strips from HD:
The issue with this rack is that it drooped from the weight of the two fixtures and I had to add a brace in the middle. I didn't realize this until I add the T5's and the droop was too great for me to install four foot...
Built the rack to hold the lights and installed all three fixtures. The new Chinese guy is in the middle, and you can clearly see it has lenses. Here they are with blues only.
It's not real clear in the following full tank shot, but the lenses cause for a brighter center section of...
I just shudder thinking that that beautiful tank is going to be torn down. Pete, congrats on the upcoming upgrade and move, and if I'm around, I'm there to help.
And I'm one of those homeowners trying to sell a house where I've already been told, because of code changes, will have to most...
Mark, don't count your chickens before the well is dug! Depends on the aquifer you're cutting into, because many Jersey aquifers are high in CO2, which will eat through DI resin within a day. Just hope you're not tapping one of those aquifers. If you are, there are fixes.
I don't know how they do it!
I ordered an eBay "Chinese" LED fixture that arrived today. I'm impressed! It's sold as 165 W, but that is the mathimatical sum of 55 LEDs that are rated at 3 W each. Actually they are run at about 2 W, for about 120 W total. HERE is the eBay link...
And George's Apollo has Mean Well drivers that wouldn't work for me....not the way my LED's are wired. Also, George's Apollo's were controllable by his Reef Angle....and I know he worked with the folks at Apollo to work out the bugs. Accordingly, I'm pretty sure these exact drivers would...
Rob, I have no question what I am......:abnormal:........you and others just need to figure it out! Dance
Now I need to go and discuss this with my philodendron and see what see thinks.....she's much smarter than I am and can give me some direction.
Wow Rob, you never cease to amaze me! Not only can you drive nails and cut some cellulose, you can lay down some steel as well. Now is that acetylene or arc? Either way, I'm impressed!
Rob, I've always been a fix-it person. My first car....a hand-me-down....didn't need anything done to it, but I pulled the engine anyway and rebuilt it because I wanted to, and it was my first engine. As a fix-it person, you never forget your first engine. :o
As far as...
I've just finished the chronicle on the issues I had with my two Apollo LED's HERE. Also, as I reported in my Tale a couple days ago, the TauTronics LED fixture I was using to replace an Apollo fixture while it was being fixed, well that crapped out on me....the blues only. They barely...
James, go back and look closely......it's a Picasso of a group of nude women wearing white makeup with a white background....just standing around. Now don't look at it for too long....you'll go blind! :o
The second batch of 50 blue LEDs arrived today. I soldered in the 40 new LEDs and applied the Arctic Silver Ceramique 2 thermal compound on the finned aluminum. I did this by first distributing the compound over the plate.
By the way, one $7 tube (25g), of this compound does the two...
