Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Xavier613 - anemones of the same species have no issue at all together. You realize they do clone/spawn off and then suddenly you can have more than one anemone in the tank. All patriots are condylactis species from the carribean. Typically they are not known to host pacific clownfish. I say...
thanks for what? ;) Now I know why I like this club so much -phyl does all the hard work and people thank me for it. ;D ;D ;D Ok nothing to read here move along...
I can't speak for billy but I imagine if you passed cash to one of the board members that could work too.
I wish I was as smart as you are at 17! Geez at 17 I think I was putting in a state of the art 5 1/4 floppy disk into the apple 2 and hoping to read the next zork passage.
welcome to njrc!
I've heard a lot of nice things about the tech series- you'll have to post pics when you get a chance.
In terms of cleaning skimmers - I think most folks will use a vinegar based water solution to soak it.
In terms of LR - check out our sponsors - we have quite a few that...
does the quit counter include the cost/time/effort needed to go out and purchase? I recall my roomate in college always getting the car and driving out to grab a pack. With gas prices over $3 here...it adds up! :)
When I fed my serpent stars at night they always had to duke it out with the nass snails, hermits and shrimp - I'd imagine most of yours will come out hungry too. Good luck - not to sound pessimistic but at least there are invert group buys. ;)
I'd imagine you could ask some folks nearby to hold some of the inverts for you in their sump (assuming they all play nice together). My tank isn't set up yet otherwise I'd definitely offer. Perhaps even Feng could help?
oh duh - I didn't read the sig on your post to see where you are located.
you got 3 anthias from a LFS that wasn't feeding eh? Chancy bet that is. Hopefully it works out. This isn't meant as a "flame" - but might want to ask the LFS to hold the fist in the future - and/or set up a QT for the...
OOPS - My bad!!! though you and I will have to agree to disagree on what is best. :)
So is that what adam sessler is going by these days -ninja warrior? ;)
I retract my comment on the phosban reactor-sorry I didn't read the part about the large fuge/chaeto. You could still setup the phosban...
TampaBaySaltwater - gulf of mexico LR.
TBS has some amazing coloration and while there are some non-desires hitchers, there are usually a ton of beneficial ones as well. It's a personal preference.
I wasn't looking to make a profit so I sold them $5 a pop to the brooklyn aquarium...
what are the tank dimensions? Is it a 60 x 18 x 26? or the 4 x 2 x 2? I'd imagine either way you'd be able to fit that big clam. Or you could go out and get some wasabi. (totally joking).
don't worry about the 'toms...they will disappear as soon as they appeared...*with patience* ;).
every tank is different but certainly would be best to wait since the tank is only a month or two old. Again- i'm not the expert on nems.
I know $$$ is one factor for you - definitely think about...
LOL. I totally understand...but unfortunately you've set your sights on the one invert that is rather sensitive to water chemistry and I'd definitely wait until the bloom is over and your tank becomes more "second nature" to you rather than the "lemme go grab all the test kits and check...
Nice! um- while my ego loves to be built up by folks calling me phyl (aka el presidente), I'm actually just "phil"...the new guy/mod. :)
So if you plan on adding corals the question then becomes - what kind? There are quite a few 120 tale of the tanks you should go check out for ideas...
However it is done - take your time. The key for most of our inhabitants is nice and slow transition, not wild fluctuations. I'd rather be at 1.024 then to jump to say 1.028 by accident tomorrow. Make sure you are measuring the salinity with a refractometer (sorry if that is obvious). It would...
This is probably obvious - but will ask - is the pump an external or internal in the sump pump? I'd consider placing something underneath the pump to help defray the vibrations. Not sure what you define as loud tho...
A condylactis can be pretty and very inexpensive, but they tend to be fish-eaters (though that did not stop my maroon clown from forcing it to be it's host). I would suggest instead of a hard-to-keep specimen caught from the wild, that perhaps you ask for a "clone" of an existing anemone. One...
Make sure whatever you start dosing you also have a handy test kit to measure the results. No sense dosing something you're not sure what the result will be.
For a complete list of suggested water params to observe - check out the article by Dr. RHFarley - it's a sticky on the top of this forum...
