Your link didn't work and found that you left out an "s" in waters.....this one should work: http://www.murkywatersaquariumsupplies.com Anyway, never heard of them, but i'll be checking them out.

Let me better explain the picture…..and I’m talking about this one: I am in the basement looking down the length of the joists that are parallel to the tank immediately above. You can see two copper pipes going across the view that bend upward. Those are to feed a radiator in the...

Pete, you are correct that wood shrinks and swells with changes in humidity. Woodworks are aware of this in building cross-grain furniture. I just had to fix an antique cedar chest that wasn’t constructed correctly. The people before me would continue to add more nails to the cross grained...

George, it’s the floor! That first picture of a level is on the floor right next to the tank. From the wall, the floor drops off a quarter inch or so within two feet. It’s verified in checking the plumb of the tank. It’s leaning away from the wall. I’m also not crazy about jacking the...

So here is what I’m thinking….let me know if you think I’m nuts: Empty and remove the sump. Empty as much water out of the DT as I can and still keep the fish and rock in it….about ¾ of the water. All this water is saved. Now place a jack on the upper front beam of the stand, right in...

I think I see what you’re talking about…or what you think you’re seeing. You think you see the newer joist slightly below the old one as it contacts the main beam. However, what you are seeing is a slight gap in the new joist to the cleat on the main beam. In addition, the sistered joists...

Trouble in Dodge I’ve got a pretty good eye for things being square. So I’m in the closet to the right of the tank this morning, and I look out at the side of the tank. To my eye, it looks like the top of the tank (canopy), is further from the wall than the stand. I retrieved my...

    Zippys tank

Pete, Pete, Pete, pick a side….you can’t play both sides of the fence! Put your sump refugium under the tank OR in the closet behind the tank. Definitely not one piece on one side, and the other piece on the other side. You’ll be running back and forth between “under the tank” and “in...

    Free Purple Cap – Sayreville

Matt, I’m going to play real here….you’re in Phillipsburg, and I’m in Sayreville….I need this gone quick. If you tell me you’ll make the trip, it’s yours. Otherwise, I'm going to the next.

Without a doubt, keep them…..they are good….the partial little shell that they have.

    Free Purple Cap – Sayreville

I have one more generous sized piece of purple cap left if anyone wants it. Needs to be picked up this week…the sooner the better

    Moving water up hill

Simple answer, YES! You just can’t have the exit of the drain pipe (or the maximum water level in the 20) higher than the water level in the DT. And I'm assuming a "conventional" overflow with the drain hole at the bottom.

    Kschweers rebuild. 57g rimless

Kevin, looking pretty. I’m really liking your rockwork. Maybe it’s my sick mind, but it reminds me the Rorschach inkblot test. I see two combatants ready to fight. Don’t worry, I’m seeing my therapist tomorrow.

    Holiday Party!

Wow! Great time tonight. I’d first like to thank George and the Board for bringing in Ken, and for making the donation to his organization. Really fits what the mission of this club is all about. It also was a pleasure hearing from Ken again. It was very clear in how he talked about...

New to NJ Reefers and 40G Build Thread

First off, welcome! My daughter recently moved back from San Diego and the moving truck had a hole in the roof. Everything was soaking wet......couches, TV, etc. The settlement (and this was in the original contract that you never read), was a dollar per pound. Had nothing to do with the...

    The Consummate Shopper

She did it again! My wife, in her ever-ending pursuit to buy everything fish, has come home from shopping with yet another fish wine stopper. However, included with this wine stopper are six little “guppies” to be used as glass charms to identify whose glass. Bed, Bath and Beyond, if...

    billabong pipe master

I have to get out more often. I had to google Billabong and figure out what you were talking about. I only saw “bong” and “pipe,” and having grown up in the 60’s and early 70’s, I’m thinking I could compete in that! Anyway, the best I can figure is that it’s a surfing completion sponsored...
