    Dan's 90G Reef

Out of curiosity, what are you actual ALK, CALC and MAG numbers. It sounds like you are actually precipitating calcium carbonate. I know in earlier posts you mentioned dosing two-part, but don’t remember seeing numbers. Also, even though they call it “two-part,” it’s actually three-part...

    Liverock

I speak in general terms, knowing nothing specifically about nitrifying bacteria. Most bacteria will go into a dormant stage if they do not have the means to continue to reproduce (this assumes all other parameters are there to keep it happy.) If you don’t “feed” the bacteria with fish...

    Kschweers rebuild. 57g rimless

Kevin, not sure what woods you are using, but if you use a stain sealer first, the tone will be more similar between the woods…especially if you go with a darker stain.

Well I went gloss black on the big tank (90 gallon) and flat black ($0.97/spray can) for the JBJ 28. Haven’t fully set up the JBJ yet, but the big tank does require a damp cloth wipe down every so often.

    Jimroth's Big Ol' Tank

Jim, I’ve run both an MRC 2 and MRC 3 on my tank and without question the best skimmer I’ve run as far as skimmate production. So good choice with your big tank. My only complaint was the energy consumption for the pump and the noise….very loud, even with the air intake muffled. However...

Always like the DIY woodworking…..looks fantastic. However, I do have a problem with that behemoth overflow…..go Glass-Holes!

    Kids got the itch back...

I apologize if my response was misinterpreted. It was meant to be educational in that you either have ammonia or you don’t….albeit said with a bit of flippant humor….that’s my personality. However, with that said, I do agree that it’s best I say nothing to any of your posts…..I’m done!

“Pretty close,” only counts for handgrenades, horse shoes and Bocci ball. Otherwise, you still have ammonia in the tank!

I believe I'm at 36 1/2 which is just fine when standing next to the tank. I recently put a couch in the fish room, and it seems a bit high sitting in the couch.....but I'm still OK with the stand height....because most walk in and stare....so it's good.

I certainly don’t wish to belabor the point, especially if you’re happy with the fan design. However, here is a simplified overview of what you have: One Fan “In” and One Fan “Out” You have the effect of ONE fan. The one fan blows in air while the other sucks this same air out. You...

    Raising pH

I agree with this. I don't believe your number! Verify with someone else. Also, what are you doing to maintain ALK and CALC? If you are a two part user, make your own ALK by first putting 2 1/4 cups of baking soda on a cookie sheet and baking it for an hour at 350 degrees. This...

    Laminate Floor leveling

I speak with little experience, but I've never seen underlayment selectively placed on a floor....it's laid down over the entire floor.

    Kschweers rebuild. 57g rimless

Kevin, still sounding like an epoxy.....if you think you can do it in two cans, go for it. Otherwise, I'd look into picking up the two cans of resin to apply the epoxy that way....in the end, less expensive.....about $30-$40 for a quart.

Kevin, not familiar with it....but when they mention "two part," I'm thinking epoxy. How does the price of this stuff compare to epoxy coatings?
