I have an SWC 160 with the Atman 2500 and here’s the secret for my pump. It kept on stalling when I first got it. I eventually found that if I put a couple telfon washers (available at HD) on the shaft on the front side of the pump, it works just fine. I’m guessing that the impeller stuff...
I see you’re attending this month’s meeting. If you don’t mind waiting until the meeting, and bringing the fish there, I’d like both the wrasse and pseudochromis.
Thanks Toad for the info. I actually spent some time noodling around the internet and found that JBJ owners needed to cut off the magnet for the Tunze to fit into the “basket” area. That’s the only place it fits. Also note that I do not use the standard stock hood. I’ve build my own...
12 to 18 inches is what the "book" says. I've got mine at 15. But really it boils down to how large an area you need to cover. Realize with 90 degree optics your "spread" is twice the height of the light. So if you're 12 inches up, any one LED is filling a 24 inch diameter circle. I...
Is this feasible? The wood square is the approximate dimension of the skimmer body. I should also point out this is not a typical JBJ hood. I now have this behemoth hood over the JBJ and could easily fit the skimmer…..in the tank itself. Now the question is whether this is feasible...
I’m interested in the skimmer if it will fit into a JBJ 28. I’m not familiar, but is it a hang-on-the-back or does it need to go into water? If anyone knows, I’d appreciate comment.
Jason, that thing is a beast!
The angle of the photo makes it look like the skimmer is part of the hallway table….with the family picture on top of the skimmer.
Edwin, I’d never, ever say you were wasting your time. If it makes you feel warm and fuzzy, keep doing it. :D Now I can’t remember the simplest of derivations in calculus, but I will assure you that it takes many, many feet and a lot of heat to get significant transfer of heat. I...
John, also make sure the container doesn’t block the drain or you’ll be having yet another “DOH!” moment. I stick the handle of a knife under the edge of the container to make sure the excess water has a place to drain.
Put the five gallon container in the sink so when it overflows, it just goes down the drain. I do this in the wash sink in our laundry room.
The other option, which I use on my 55 gallon waste water container, is a water alarm. When water hits the sensor, it sets off a loud alarm. I’ve...
