Dude! Sorry to hear. Had the same problem and my 65 and 90 had to go. BUT, a 25g IM shallow reef, with softies, a small few non-demanding SPS, and a couple of fish, takes me about 15 minutes a week for full maintenance, no dosing, no computer, no testing... just a 2.5g water and filter floss...

I'm up in the air on BB or 1" of Special Grade. I think I'm going to go with the SG. I've run a few BB with great flow and there always seems to be glass melding diatoms that I can't get to to scrape off. That being said... Ive started tanks BB and always ended up adding sand due to diatom build...
