90G here with a gyre 130. I've got mine set on interval mode - 30 secs on, 30 secs off, 30 secs on, etc. On the opposing side of the tank I have an MP10 on alternating reef mode. Works fantastic, lot of low, great coral motion.

If i understand you right and the tank had only water in it and no livestock, i'd ditch the old water (and definitely dump the old sand if there is any) and start with new aragonite, add rock, add all new water, and start your cycle. Best to start from a fully clean slate.
